As we all know, marketing is a necessary part of our daily life. Not only are products and services marketed, but we market ourselves as part of everyday business. I spent time this week speaking with a close friend of mind who is a Store Manager for H&R Block discussing the 4-Ps and how they pertain to his organization. It was very interesting to see how different industries market their products and services. Does the thought of receiving your tax return immediately grasp your attention? Well it has definitely helped H&R Block in boosting their ability to attract customers. It seems as thought immediate gratification is a promotion marketing tool that many companies are now using. After briefly describing the 4 P's of marketing we will review how H&R Block utilizes all of the steps in their marketing mix.
Definitions
Product is/are the products or services you offer and are they unique and different, superior in quality and easier to use. In my own opinion, the product or service is one the most important aspects of a successful business. If you have an item that the customer really wants they will drive out of their way to purchase it. They are usually willing to pay a higher price if the quality justifies it. When a local popular hamburger place open up in Phoenix, people drove long distances and sat in long lines just to bite into one of their juicy hamburgers.
If you were to drive by and see the long line you would have thought they were giving something away for free.
Price is how much to sell your products for. This is based on your cost and product value to potential customers. I believe that price is important and you will definitely attract customers with the lure of cheap prices, especially at Christmas time. How many people just recently woke up at 4 a.m. just to get in line for several hours so they could get a great deal and save a few dollars? I believe that it works to motivate certain customers, but there are still consumers out there who are not interested getting stampeded during a price reduction sale.
Promotion is advertising to potential customers in and effort to create an awareness of your business. It is reasonable to believe that without the ability to advertise a company would have a difficult time generating new customers.
Product: the item, good or service that is being provided that delivers benefits to those who consume it; includes quality, packaging, design and brand
1.Product: The product or service must be developed for the target market. In the airlines the product is not a physical item but services rendered. These services are not limited to but often include: Safety, timeliness (on-time arrivals and departures), convenience, in-flight services, and carrier’s image.
Perhaps the most versatile of the marketing Ps is promotion. It covers all phases of communication between the seller and the potential customer. It is versatile because a change in budget, media or target audience can be made quickly. Promotions also can be effectively changed for specific market segment efforts. Major promotional concerns include the following:
The LEGO Group organization is famous due to its flagship product – colourful plastic bricks that can be interlocked to form a variety of figures, and then disconnected again. These binding bricks originated in a wooden form when the company was first established in Billund, Denmark by Kirk Kristiansen in 1932 (The LEGO Group, 2012), and today’s well known plastic version was introduced in 1958 (Rosenberg). The company’s head office is located in Billund to this day, and The LEGO Group remains privately owned by Kristiansen’s family (The LEGO Group, 2012). They currently sell toys and teaching materials in over 130 countries worldwide.
Another thing that takes into account for a product success is positioning, how the customer think of the products. A good positioning strategy will not just make the customer knows about the product but will also appeal and attract more customers. An alternative pricing approach need to be prepared if the customer doesn’t like on the pricing of the product or the company want to increase their profit.
Promotion. Finally comes promotion - informing the customer on the qualities and advantages of the product so that the potential buyer learns about the product, prefers it to those of the competitors, and has an opportunity to buy it at some place.
Prepare an essay comparing and contrasting a 4-P (price, product, place and promotion) approach to marketing versus the value approach (creating, communicating, and delivering value). What would you expect to be the same and what would you expect to be different between two companies who apply one or the other approach?
What is product? Product can be anything, tangible and intangible. Product is anything that the company can offer to the consumer. Apple’s products are the best of service in the market. From computer to smartphone to tablet computer, today customer believe that if they get the apple product. Even that price is high also worth it. Apple products are usually high quality, so in some case that is the best of available device for customer. However, it is not perfect, many customers leave for a series of problems, so they deeply hurt.

How a product is selling directly depends on the price of the product. This is related to what do the customers felt about the value of the product rather than an objective costing of the product on offer. The Price in 4Ps is important as a lot of stress is weighted on the price; this is because it does not matter how good the product is if it is not priced correctly. A company might produce the best product, but if is overpriced no one will be willing to buy it. On the other hand, same goes to under-pricing. If a company under-price a product too much, the customer will not find the product a quality product. This is why it is essential to price a product
Too often, a marketing function is misunderstood, because many people do not understand what is meant by ‘Marketing’.
A product is a service or item that is offered to the customer to fulfilled their requirements and needs. A brand portfolio is used to include all entities when a large organisation run under various and numerous brands, services and company. Typically, each of the brands possesses a separate trademark and manage as a single business entities. Samsung is a huge company and produce various products with creative and interesting design and sizes, therefore customer has numerous choices. Samsung brand portfolios is Samsung Electronics Co.Ltd, SDI Co.Ltd, Electro-Mechanics Co.Ltd, Techwin Co.Ltd, Heavy Industries Co.Ltd and Security Co.Ltd. Product differentiation also can be as the promotion that is the process of distinguishing a product or service from others, to make it more attractive to a particular target market. This involves differentiating it from competitors' products as well as a firm's own products. The example of product differentiation is brand names, strong dealer network, product reliability, image and services. Rejoice use a salon- smooth hair for a “Haba ng hair” (long hair) moment. Image of Rejoice also is different from other product. So, a customer can distinguish from the out looking of Rejoice. Advertising lies in the Promotion part of Marketing Mix, but it applies to all the other P's as well. Promoting one’s business is the key ingredient to making one’s business successful. Promotion, along with a great product, key placement, and a reasonable price, will help a marketer work his way to the top. Promoting does not mean leaving his advertising up to the word of mouth of his current customer.
The term "product" refers to tangible, physical products as well as services. It also means defining the characteristics of your product or service to meet the customers' needs. AirAsia’s philosophy is girded by the fact that they have been seen as a small airline competitor for many years. Therefore, in order to win more customers and return customers, they need to ensure that their primary products and services are up to par and meet the defining needs of customers.
