Global warming is a process mostly caused by the emissions of greenhouse gasses into our atmosphere. These gasses are pollutants, which means that they will create sort of a second boundary between the earth's surface and the sun. In our case, the greenhouse gasses trap some of the radiation we absorb from the sun, instead of deflecting it back into space. With this excess radiation we now absorb from the sun, higher temperatures appear, this is global warming. Where do these gasses come from? What are they? The main gasses that we recognize as 'greenhouse gasses' are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Carbon dioxide, being the most well known, comes from a variety of places include natural causes and man made causes, …show more content…

These all occurred between over 2 billion years ago and only 3 million years ago. The firtst and most distant ice age was over two billion years ago. The second occurred between 850-635 million years ago. The third was between 460-430 million years ago, the fourth was between 360-260 million years ago and the most recent was only 3 million years ago. These were the five main ice ages that have happened in the history of our planet. The medieval warming period is a brief climatic change that took place between 900ce to1300. Taking place in the northern hemisphere.(Asia, Greenland and Europe) In this time the temperatures rose significantly. Nature was also effected. The little ice age was a period where the overall average temperature decreased significantly. This period occurred between warmer periods and during the 17th century. GLOBAL TEMPERATURE Over the course of human history, temperatures have significantly increased. From the 1980s to the 2000s, the increase has been the most noticeable. The average global temperature has raised approximately .5 degrees Celsius. CARBON DIOXIDE LEVELS For the entirety of our planets history, carbon dioxide levels have never risen above 300. In the 1950s it had rose to a little under 320. By the 2000s it had gone all the way up to a little under400. METHANE
