Many of the sun’s rays are absorbed by water vapor. Water vapor is a natural atmospheric gas and it accounts for “80 percent of natural greenhouse warming; the remaining 20 percent is due to other gasses that are present in very small amounts” (Murck, Skinner, and Porter 488). A greenhouse gas known as carbon dioxide is the second biggest absorber of the sun’s heat rays. Humans affect the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere in many ways. Every time fossil fuels are burned, more carbon dioxide is released into the air.
Carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane and nitrous oxide are the most common greenhouse gasses. Greenhouse gases cause the radiant heat of the sun to be trapped in the Earths lower atmosphere which causes global warming. If there weren’t any greenhouse gasses, the earth would be really cold due to very little sun rays being absorbed on the earth. Global warming can and will lead to several problems that affect the environment in which we humans live in. These problems can lead to warmer temperatures all around the world, it can endanger animals and the wildlife, and it can lead to widespread flooding from the glaciers melting.
When the amount of greenhouse gases is increased in our atmosphere the climate on earth will also increase. Some greenhouse gases are natural while others are manmade including water vapor as a result of the water cycle or chlorofluorocarbons created directly from humans. However, many natural greenhouse gases are able to be released by humans. The earth is getting warmer because people are adding heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere, primarily by burning fossil fuels. For example, carbon dioxide which is ... ... middle of paper ... ...with the amount of cars in the world you would be over 20,000,000,000 pounds of carbon dioxide if everyone used at least a gallon of gas at once.
These molecules are able to absorb heat, which makes them vibrate. They eventually release the heat energy and it is often absorbed by another greenhouse gas molecule. The greenhouse effect is useful because trapping some energy keeps the temperatures on our planet mild and suitable for living things. Without its atmosphere and the greenhouse effect, the average temperature at the surface of the Earth would be zero degrees Fahrenheit. However, too many greenhouse gases can cause the temperature to increase out of control.
The greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. “Carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere when solid waste, fossil fuels, and wood are burned.” (2) The gases help to warm the surface of the Earth. Each greenhouse gas absorbs heat differently. If natural gases did not occur, the temperature of the earth would be considerably cooler. “Problems can occur when higher concentrations of greenhouse gases are present in our atmosphere because they have enhanced our earth's heat trapping capability.” (3) Human activities add to the levels of these gasses, causing more problems.
The statistics and data for the research show that an increased amount of CO2 is actually happening, and other environmental organizations agree with that based on data of their own. There are several main causes of Global warming: greenhouse gas emissions, the greenhouse effect, and deforestation. First, greenhouse gases such as water vapor, chlorofluorocarbons, and methane (CH4) occur naturally, and are increasing. Above all, fuel burning and other human activities are emitting large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2). These additional greenhouse gases come from burning fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil to power our cars, factories, homes and schools.
In conclusion, global warming is an increase of the Earth’s surface temperature and the Earth’s lower atmosphere. Atmospheric greenhouse gases (water vapor, carbon dioxide, and other gases) trap outgoing energy, and retain heat like the glass panels in a greenhouse. Many people believe that humans are causing the problem with emissions from things such as cars and trucks. Others say that the warming is just part of a trend and that the world goes through warm and cold periods. If the planet continues to warm, there could be many harmful side effects.
What is Global Warming? Global Warming is the increase of surface temperature due to effect of green housing effect and burning gasses. Increase in global warming: There are many things that cause increase in global warming: Carbon dioxide (CO2): Human beings have increased the Human beings have increased the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere by about thirty percent, concentration in the atmosphere by about thirty percent, CO2 spread in atmosphere from human breath, industries , smoke of automobiles and fossil fuel etc… when we burn fossil fuel the co2 gases escaped in to air and outer layer of earth. Outer layer of is the layer that reflect the ultraviolet rays of sun. So the co2 and burning gases causes the increase of global warming (http://www.nmsea.org/Curriculum/Primer/Global_Warming/fossil_fuels_and_global_warming.htm) Radiations: Radiations also increase the global warming.
The main effect that causes global warming is the greenhouse effect as I said before, which is a phenomenon referred to absorption by certain atmospheric gases— mainly H2O, followed by CO2 and O3— part of the energy that the ground emits, as a consequence of having been heated by solar radiation. The natural greenhouse effect that stabilizes the climate of the earth is not a question of inclusion in the debate on global warming. That is without this natural greenhouse effect temperatures would fall by about 30° Celsius, and with such change the oceans would freeze and life as we know it would be impossible to have because of the global warming. The evidence of warming of the climate system manifests itself in observed increases in temperature on earth and into the ocean, widespread melting of snow and ice, and rising... ... middle of paper ... ...we get low the thermostat 2 degrees in the winter and up 2 degrees in the summer, we can save about 900 kilos of carbon dioxide a year. Moreover, plant a tree.
The plants work by burning fossil fuels and it produces large amount of Carbon Dioxide. Also, Vehicles is one of the causes of global warming. In addition, deforestation is also a cause of global warming. Trees can take in CO2 from atmosphere and it releases oxygen. Moreover, Increase in Sea level is also a reason.
