Lubbock Internship Essay

Interning with First Capital Bank of Texas in Lubbock was a wonderful experience. Going into the internship I was unsure of what to expect and what I would be spending the next two months doing there. During my time there I was able to learn far more than I ever thought, and was able to learn multiple tasks that a credit analyst performs. There were many positive aspects of the work that I enjoyed, but working full time there also revealed things that are not quite appealing to me in a career. Interning as a credit analyst truly helped me understand the banking industry, and helped me to better know what career path I might want to take. No matter what, I am sure that my experience there has taught me many things that will be beneficial to my future, and will be relevant in any business.

Whether applying for a mortgage or a business loan, I know the things I have learned will be beneficial. One of the biggest things I learned was how important it is to have a good relationship with your bank, and how that relationship can really be important to your success in your endeavors. During my time I was able to make good impressions on the people there and I am confident that my performance has opened doors for me there if I choose in the future.
Thinking on the next two to five years, I am not sure where I will be in my career path. I could possibly see working for a bank for a few years to get more experience and make a good salary. However, at the moment I do not picture myself as a banker for the long-term. I am more interested in working in personal financial planning or some other industry where I have more freedom and operate independently. Ultimately, I would like to own my own business and for that business to be centered on Christian principles and helping
