Lower health expectancy is one of the most significant issues in more developed countries, such as the United State and Canada. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) (2012), health expectancy is measured by the average number of years that people are expected to live with good health. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which is an agency that provides a forum in which governments around the world may work together to improve the economic and sociality. The report of the OECD (2013) shows that the United States health expectancy is lower than the international average. There are many developed countries, where they are urban areas. Urban areas usually have air pollution caused by transportations or electrical devices in that area, like Canada. According to Mr. Sjaak (2013), the Netherlands Energy Research Foundation as head of the environmental research department. He states that Canada has been the most polluted countries out of 20 countries in developed countries. Furthermore, Dr. Steven (2014), the analyst of air pollution, states “Outdoor air pollution in Canada causes an estimated 1.2 million premature deaths and 25 million healthy years of life lost annually.” In fact, air pollution is a common problem in developed countries, there are many high concentration of small particulates that affect the health of citizens in daily life. At the same time, it causes death, disease and disability if people are living there for long-term. The survey by the WHO (2012) has mentioned that there was 25 percent of death in developed countries because of poor air quality. Government and citizens should be working together to control the problem. Government may use the sustainable development for power generation. “ Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”, stated in the book of the World Commision on Environment and Development (1987). Increasing use of low-emission fuels and renewable energy sources, for instance, wind power, solar and hydropower, may reduce the negative effects to the environment. For citizens, people should try to use more public transportation in daily life, such as buses and train. Furthermore, the drivers may try to shift power generation into the clean modes. That is the better way to reduce the air pollutants. In addition, citizens in developed countries are encouaged to use 5R in daily. They are reduce, reuse, recycle, replace and renew.
