The Riddle of Experience vs. Memory – Daniel Kahneman
Happiness:
Happiness as defined by Daniel Kahneman, is in need of a new definition. He iterates that researchers, scholars, and writers continually use it in terms of one concept. However, happiness is something that is not well defined and does not encompass the full understanding of one’s happiness. Happiness entails an understanding of a view of how one interprets happiness and is misconstrued by their own definition of what makes them happy. The word happiness is commonly mistaken for well-being.

Cognitive Traps:
Daniel Kahneman, defines ones misperception of happiness by being obstructed by “cognitive traps.” Cognitive traps are the misrepresentation of happiness that clouds one’s knowledge of happiness. Kahneman states that there are three “cognitive traps” that hinder one’s perception of happiness. However, his focus is on the “experiencing self” and the “remembering self.” Kahneman, has come to the conclusion that society has lumped the definition of happiness into one concept and that is not the case. Happiness is comprised of two very different concepts. Being happy in your life and being happy with your life. Although, they are different concepts, one interprets them as one.
