Standing at approximately 1,128feet tall, the sleek design of the John Hancock Center has been a tourist attraction, work space, and home for many since 1965 when the Hancock center first opened its doors. The Hancock has been shaped by the city and the residents of Chicago. This Chicago landmark encompasses the success of Chicago. The very elegant black steel frame and shear mass demonstrates the economic powerhouse that it is. From first impression, Burnham found that Chicago had a murky factorial image lined with a “fantastic stink that lingered in the vicinity of Union Stock yards” (41). The dreadful surface that Chicago was maintaining allowed Burnham to be determined to collaborate and recreate its image. His efforts would also make a reputational comeback for America’s poor representation in the Exposition Universelle (15). One major feature that transformed public opinion of the state was to illuminate the entire fair with clean white buildings that outlined the goodness of the area (252). Eye-catching whiteness contradicted the presumed dirtiness of the town. Making a contradiction from what was assumed of the city would allow the fair to generate a much bigger transformation. The lights also gave the fair a unique, whimsical edge. “The lamps that laced every building and walkway produced the most elaborate demonstration of electric illumination ever attempted”, incorporating new technology in a grand-scale way merely to keep the theme of brightness ongoing throughout each day and night (254). Nathan Hale was born on June sixth, 1755, in Coventry, Connecticut. Richard Hale and Elizabeth Hale were his parents. Nathan had nine siblings. Enoch Hale was the most acknowledged sibling of Nathan Hale. Education was important to both of them. In addition to learning, Nathan was interested in wrestling, football, broad jumping, and women. Hyde Park is located south of Chicago. Hyde Park is known for its introducing Chicago’s world fair. The Chicago’s world fair introduced the United States to electricity and the Ferris wheel. The event was so enormous that it took up more than 600 acres of space, the construction of 200 buildings and invited almost 30 million of people. Hyde Park has two of the city’s most significant cultural institutions, The University of Chicago and The Museum of Science and Industry. The Museum of Science and Industry is the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere and has more than 2,000 exhibits.
