The Entrepreneurs and Family Background The Entrepreneurs I've gotten was the Jodrey Family. I will first talk about Roy A. Jodrey who was the one that started it then lead to his son John J.Jodrey. Roy A. Jodrey was born in 1888 -1973. He was a grade school dropout. Jodrey dropped out of school in grade 6. He described going to school was a waste of time. And went on to make millions. Though he dropped out of school, through textbooks and correspondence course, he educated himself on the basis on business. At the age of 12, his first job was apple harvesting. Then, at the age of 18, his own company he worked for was shipping apples to England. Jodrey was the next generation to take over the business. John J. Jodrey's full name is John Joseph Jodrey. He was born in Gaspereau, Nova Scotia. He was born in September, 18 913. The Jodrey Family has an estimated net worth of $782 million ( Canada's Richest People 2015). Thus considered to be one of Nova Scotia's richest and most influential families. After graduating from Wolfville High School and Horton Academy he owned and operated a service station in Pictou, Nova Scotia for two years, followed by an apple orchard operation (just like his father). While still in his 20s, he joined the family business of Minas Basin, and then Canadian Keyes Fibre Inc (renamed CKF Inc, in 1982) eventually becoming president and chairman of both companies. His biggest role was to oversee the operations of the family's vast business empire that includes a diverse range of companies that specialise in pulp, paper, medical devices, construction materials and paper plates. John Jodrey was also an avid supporter of various universities based in Nova Scotia and created scholarships. He also supported various hospitals and foundations. John J. Not only that but before his death in the will, Jodrey gave his wife all his personal, domestic and household use possessions which included consumable stores, automobiles and boats. But with he exception of his boat named Windy Boat that he gave it to his son Bruce. Jodrey also gave his wife their home on Willow Street in Hantsport and directed that she continue to take care of their property on Shaw Island. In addition to the boat and a gift of $250,000, Jodrey said in his will that he forgives his son and release him from paying back whatever he owes. As for the daughter, Kathryn was given a gift of $500,000 and an option agreement on parcels of land known as Beachettes in Montserrat in the West Indies. Jodrey also left $100,000 to his daughter-in-law Johanna and $25,000 each to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation to which he was a former director, Dalhousie University and Acadia University. And another $5,000 went to Scouts Canada in Nova Scotia.
