Hey! Watch it! This is a collective novelty item. Anyway, my names James Naismith.
Background info (birthplace, birthdate, any relevant childhood info., relevant relationship info., etc.):Son of John and Margaret naismith, creator of basketball, and a professor at the University of Kansas. Now, most of you know me as the creator basketball. I was born on November 6, 1861 in Almonte, Canada. I have two siblings. A brother named Robbie and a sister named Annie.
What led up to the main event?:
Now, many of you are wondering why I created basketball. Well, it started in 1891, in Springfield Massachusetts.
You see, my class and I needed a game to play. After all, I was a physical education instructor.

Main Event Details:
One of the thirteen original rules consisted of no dribbling. Now, this rule also determines that you may not run With the ball. Once the ball is caught by the player, he must throw it from the spot that he catches it from. If the player runs with the ball, the ball will be given to the opposing team. This rule was made to avoid contact. After all, we were trying to make a friendly game, with not as much contact as football.
Fouling was another rule. A foul was striking the ball with a fist, running with the ball, or holding the ball with your arms or body. This rule was used once again to avoid contact. We didn't want
Anything crazy like football. We just wanted a game to play to pass the time.

The first official game was played on December 21, 1891. We played at the armory street court. It was 9 versus 9 game. And like before, we used the two peach baskets and a soccer ball. We came up with name based on the materials used. I mean, we had baskets and a ball, so why not call it basketball? Although, someone did suggest to call it "Naismith Game", since I was the creator of the game. The final score was 1-0, scored by William R. Chase, about 25 feet out.
