1. Aces In Motion (AIM) is a non-profit organization based in the Gainesville community who focus on providing at-risk youth with the opportunity to learn how to play tennis while instilling valuable life lessons. Each week, AIM works with more than 500 from surrounding schools through the in-school, after-school among other programs to teach the participants about teamwork, self-esteem, and confidence as tennis players and most importantly individuals. AIM’s main purpose is to give the youth within the Gainesville community the opportunity to learn and experience different activities and connect with other youths to engage in healthy and fun extracurricular activities.

2. Working with AIM in connection with the Gainesville Area Community Tennis Association (GACTA) fits well within my degree plan. My plan in graduate school is to have both textbook and hands-on experience in sport marketing to learn how to market a team, individual, or in this case an organization. My role in the organization will be as an intern within the marketing department. This opportunity fits well within my plan because I will not solely be learning about marketing through textbooks and articles; however, I will have the chance to use what I have learned during my marketing classes and utilize the concepts during my internship. In addition, after receiving my degree, my plan is to enter into the sports industry within the field of marketing. By obtaining this internship, I will receive valuable training that will prepare me to enter into the rigorous and fast paced environment, which is the sports industry.

My duties and responsibilities as the marketing intern for AIM will be maintaining and updating the organization’s website and social media accounts, collaborate in planning AIM’s city-wide tennis tournament, identify sponsorship for AIM with local businesses, and work as a team with the Executive Director regarding how to increase AIM’s finances through different marketing
