Instructional Specialist is a position that I will construct a transition plan for. This role is the fundamental building block of a teacher leadership position and means being the best teacher inside as well as outside the classroom (NEA & CTQ & NBPTS, 2014). Reaching out to other teachers and stakeholders is part of being a successful instructional leader. Instructional leadership, while not always having a distinct title is an important role in the educational community. These are the people who help influence others while maintaining a deep focus on student learning (Friesen et al, 2015). Becoming an instructional specialist allows me to help other educators implement effective teaching approaches in the classroom, share differentiation and lesson plan ideas, use research-based instructional and classroom tactics, as well as keep an open door so that colleagues are able to observe my classroom (Friesen et al, 2015). …show more content…

These values support the role of instructional specialist in many ways. For example, respect means that you value the ideas and opinions of my colleagues and students whiling appreciating them for who they are. Ethically speaking, respect provides equal learning opportunities for all students and equal professional prospects for my colleagues as well. Respect encompasses accountability and honesty as well. In respecting colleagues and students being honest and accountable for my actions shows that I regard them and that the success of the students is my top priority. My values and ethics are important standards for this role (Harrison & Killion, 2007). Taking the role of instruction specialist requires me to help my fellow teachers and give them the most reliable information and instructional strategies I can, while taking responsibility for their failures, should it come to
