Franklin’s family was interesting because he was not so lucky with it and this is why, all of his children passed away at age 11.Franklin and Jane were not the best either, they were on different sides of politics. he wasn’t so lucky because he fainted when he was charging and got slammed into a wall. One more thing was he fainted again when he went into the war because his horse went wild and nocked him of the his horse. The thing I mostly enjoyed was he was a general and he fainted a lot and his soldier he was leading had to wake him up. He lead half of the his army to war with Mexico. The most interesting fact about Franklin Pierce is the is Franklin is the least know president and this is why. Franklin is the least know president because people though he caused the Kansas Nebraska act and slavery. when people heard they were trying to stop slavery people went on a out rage and killing people and thats what started the civil war. Franklin didn’t nothing of his power to stop the fighting. The reason he was a president for 1 term is because he started the slavery fighting and his party didn’t want him to be a president for 2 terms. It was very interesting and kind of sad to read about Lincoln’s detachment from his family and his father. The book did a great job of describing his self-studies and his motivation to better himself through education. In the text it described Lincoln’s path to politics from a young man all the way through his presidency to his assassination. I found it very interesting the difference in the way politics was carried out compared to how it is today. One specific example that really opened my eyes to the stark differences was when he threw a man over a fence after that man started heckling the man who was speaking. After reading that I was shocked because if that happened today Lincoln’s political career would likely be over and there would probably be charges pressed against him. I enjoyed reading this book, it taught me a lot about the Civil War, but even more so I really liked that it described Lincoln’s early life in such
