Should Indoor Tanning Beds be banned for Minors? Everyone has their own opinion about the use of indoor tanning beds. Some people love to tan because they like the way their skin looks after, others don’t care for the idea of “fake baking” during the winter months. For many years now people have been trying to pass bills/laws to ban all minors from using indoor tanning beds. Many states have already passed laws saying anyone younger than 16 cannot tan indoor and so 16 years and older have to have parent consent in order to use a tanning bed. I believe that we should be able to tan indoor at the age of 16 and older. It should not be the governments’ decision on how I want my skin to look like. The choice of whether or not the teen uses a tanning bed should be discussed and decided with the teen and their parent. …show more content…

Many people will begin to argue that our government is trying to take our rights away or parent for them. The decision from the government restricting tanning to minors takes away from our personal freedom. There are many reasons why teenagers tan indoors, especially during the winter months. For instance, Christmas vacations, prom or simply because they want to keep up their natural tan from the summer. For whichever reason it is, I don’t think we should ban minors 16 and older. Another factor is if we had more education about indoor tanning beds it wouldn’t be a major deal to tan,
