How My Mom Impacted My Life

The person who remarkably impacted my life is my mother. Not because she is “nice” and “sweet,” but because she showed me how to survive on my own. My mother is an authoritative parent; she raised my little siblings and me, all on her own. She told me “everything does not come easy, you have to work for it.” She is right; if it comes easy, then it is not worth having. For seventeen years, my mother kept me healthy and alive. While raising me, she would tell me wise words that will later help me in life. One of those wise words is, to treat everyone the way I want to be treated. She taught me not to be timid and to interact with other individuals. She helped me surmount my timid trait; I now can go out to social events and introduce myself without hesitation. My mother also taught me not to be afraid of anything. Even though there are intimidating problems/events, I learned to keep striving and not let any situation get in my way. Another lesson she taught me is to be easy-going and friendly. Making new friends is not difficult for me, and I can have a conversation with any individual I come across. Even if she had a problem to deal with, she still put me first and made sure my needs were met. She is a hardworking mother who still puts her family first if it was not for my mother, I would not have decided what I want to do with my future. With her passion for caring for others and her determination, I decided I want to become a nurse practitioner so that I can care for others; just like my mother. Throughout my life, I have always looked up to my mother. She gave me positive influence, by telling me what is right and what is wrong. With her guidance, I have learned to be myself and to keep striving for my goals. My mother has not given up on her goals; she continues to complete them.
