It is no secret that in the world that we live in there are many different cultures and religions. But the question is can we take these many different walks of faith and bring them together to become a more diverse society. But we need to know what diversity truly means. Diversity is “the state of having people who are different races or who have different cultures in a group or organization.” The society that is currently around has started to believe a huge lie that is doing more harm than good. The lie is that if someone has a different belief than you that you must live life in fear of them or in a hostile manner towards them. This also goes with religion as well, people want to be involved with those of the same faith or no faith so that there is no conflict. But this creates conflict in the world because then these homogenous groups are made and then want nothing to do with one another. So in order to make progressive steps in the direction of having a more knowledgeable religious diverse society people have to come to the understanding that there are a multitude of other religions in the world and that they all have different beliefs. Coming to this realization is not easy though. Because first people have to “be aware of their own biases and prejudices” (Dogra,2) so that they can overcome them and move on to acknowledging others beliefs. Helping give a religion a good name rather than continuing to let the bad name carry on helps people of that religion better fit into society. It doesn’t seem like much just trying to share with others the experiences that you have had and what you learned. But if everyone did a small part in helping to inform others of the beliefs of different religions and their celebrations then the society that is around will help feed onto the next generation. In doing so that generation will carry on and learn from the past and help make everyone more knowledgeable and diverse. Once the ball gets rolling there will be no stopping it, but it starts right now in trying to help change our society into becoming a more knowledgeable
