How Did Romeo And Juliet Contribute To The Tragedy

In Romeo and Juliet, a play by William Shakespeare, two teenagers named Romeo and Juliet fall in love at a party and want marry eachother. Unfortunately, Romeo is from the Montague family and Juliet is from the Capulet family. During this time, these two families feuded, so these teens' marriage seemed preposterous. Then, in an attempt to be wed secretly, they both die as well as many others before them. Many characters contributed to this ensuing tragedy. Characters that contributed the most include Mercutio, Juliet, and Friar Lawrence.

Mercutio is Romeo's best friend in the play. He contributes to the tragedy with his obnoxious personality. In Act 3, Mercutio and Tybalt, a Capulet, see eacgother out in public. Tybalt greets Mercutio and Benvolio, asking to speak to one of them. Mercutio spouts a taunting reply and Tybalt taunts back. Then, Mercutio challenges Tybalt to a challenge of fencing. She contributes to the tragedy with her naive personality. When Juliet met Romeo for the first, she thought it was true love what she felt for Romeo. She convinces herself that she's will to do anything to be with Rome, no matter what. In Act 4, Juliet cries to Friar Lawrence about marrying Paris and that she'd rather be dead than marry him. Friar Lawrence then offers her a potion that will make her seem dead, but she'll wake up hours later in a tomb. In this tomb, Friar Lawrence will marry her and Romeo. What they didn't know was Romeo would get to the tomb before Friar Lawrence and thought Juliet was actually dead. Out of grief, he kills himself with a poison from an apothecary. Juliet then wakes up moments later, sees Romeo dead, and kills herself out of grief (227-231). Juliet cost her life as well as Romeo's life just because she thought she truly loved
