Ancient Egyptian society made advancements that affect the modern world even though it’s been thousands of years since their peak. Some improvements the Egyptians made are still used, and others allowed for further discoveries. An example is the movements towards modern technology made by the Egyptians in mathematics and the sciences. These movements have inspired many and resulted in new technology. In addition to the developments made in math and science, the Egyptians had social structure which can be seen in use in governments and communities presently. Without ancient Egypt, the world would be a drastically different place.
The Egyptians are undoubtedly most known for their mathematic achievements. The Egyptians knew great amounts about geometry. The Egyptians applied this knowledge to architecture, and the pyramids still stand after thousands of years because of the accuracy with which they were built. An example of the accuracy . . . is the fact that the south-east corner of the Cheops pyramid is only 2 centimetres higher than the north-west corner (Roos, Waele, and Heyndrickx). In ancient Egypt, the pharaoh appointed a chief minister called a vizier. . . Working with the vizier were scribes. . . Right below the pharaoh in status were powerful nobles and priest. . . Soldiers fought in wars or quelled domestic uprisings. . . Skilled workers such as physicians and craftspersons made up the middle class. . . At the bottom of the social structure were slaves and farmers. . . (Egyptian Social Structure). This government and social structure is very similar to what is used in modern societies, like the United States.
