I totally agree with you that it is important for those in leadership positions to influence the action of others to get a task completed (Trochim, Cabrera, Milstein, Gallagher, & Leischow, 2006). Nahavandi (2014), address leadership as the ability to guide and direct authoritative commands as an integral part of a leadership role.
