Jesus mentions that Christians are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. However, salt without saltiness is worthless; hence, Christians without spiritual knowledge won’t get far in life. Christ motivates Christians to stand out by being loving, kind, compassionate; a reflection of Jesus so that unbelievers are eager to become Christians as well (New International Version, Matt.5:13-17). Additionally, he mentions the consequences of murder, adultery, and divorce. He talks about the sincerity of oaths and the importance of loving your enemies and giving to the poor.
The preaching of repentance was particularly important for the disciples as they were to spread the good news which was that if one does truly repent, then they will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God. 16:16- "Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned". Today, the tasks of the apostles have similar meanings. To cast out devils is to fight injustice and do the will of God and to anoint the sick is basically to care for them. Modern disciples will still try to preach the gospel and spread the word of God.
Jesus came to serve a people considerably inferior to Himself as a light to dispel darkness. The Bible tells us that we do not have to live as slaves but as sons of God and heirs to the Father's kingdom. This simply means that despite our undeserving we may turn... ... middle of paper ... ...liever now has assurance that his every sin will be forgiven dependent not on the sacrifice of an animal but on sincere repentance. God loves His people and has provided them with a way by which they can be cleansed and sanctified, making them acceptable to him. The new covenant, therefore, leads to a desire to do what is right.
The act of being put into a right relationship with God by faith corresponds to Justification. Justification is available to all humans because of what Jesus did on the cross. Romans 5:8-11 says, But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
In another bible passage (Mark 1:15), Jesus says, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near; repent, and believe in the good news.” He would later on educate His followers about God’s kingdom and would recount parables that held a significant message in becoming a good Christian. The gospel/Good News is the coming of the Kingdom of God, and that Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection was to reinstate people’s relationship with God. Spreading the gospel/Good News is important not only
The suffering of Jesus supports us through our own suffering, as we know we are not alone, Jesus suffered too. The death of Jesus tells us of our responsibilities, we too must 'endure our crosses' and face our responsibilities as Jesus did. Sacrifice and suffering are part of the pattern of Christian life, of God's plan, taking up our crosses will help us become better Christians and help us grow in faith. We should not despair in times of suffering but turn and pray to God as Jesus did in Gethsemane, when he cried out, "Abba, Father take this cup away
God can be trusted as he has proven his love in many ways. According to the Bible, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Suffering is part of humanity because when people believe in God, but sometimes wonder they begin to suffer because they are at fault. (Hiles & Smith, 2014). When a person begins to wonder why God is taking so long to hear their prayer, they begin to think they are not a fault.
He is God incarnate who became flesh to take away the sins of the world. He was a poor servant, an obedient child who grew up with wisdom and understanding and became man so that the Word became flesh to dwell among humanity (Weaver, 2014). For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus’ ministry was to preach and teach about the Kingdom Of Heaven and these teachings are the revelations that mankind are to live by in order to get into Heaven and find salvation (DiVincenzo, 2015). The teaching about the Kingdom was for God to restore his creation into the right relationship with himself (DiVincenzo, 2015).
They also want to do it because it pleases god and they want to please him. This is the undcondtional love that god shows them and want them to pass on that love to other people. Reflection As a Christian I am still growing in my faith. I still do not understand things. And I still seek answers from God.
Paul and Peter were remarkable leaders who continued to contribute to the early church even during times of persecution, sin, and conflict. Peter shows his leadership in Acts chapter three verses seventeen through twenty: “Now, fellow Israelites, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Messiah would suffer. Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.” This quote displays how Peter was a leader and how great of a leader he actually was to speak to the onlookers about leadin... ... middle of paper ... ...also lead. A leader is anyone who is planting seeds with God that will cause that person to be one that He raises up.
