Genetically Modified Organisms, also known as GMOs, are one of the most important issues today. Think about all the food you have eaten this past year that contained GMOs. Think about the ice cream that you last ate; some could argue it has a double dose of GMOs; not only does it contain sugar, which is probably genetically modified, but much of the forage that the dairy cows eat that produced the milk for the ice cream is also genetically modified. A genetically modified organism is a new version of a plant or animal that is created by altering genes using biotechnology. According to recent studies, GMOs are perfectly healthy to consume. GMOs are just as safe as normal bred plants. But why do you think people are so afraid of GMOs? In some people's minds, they think that GMOs are the most horrible things on earth and the food containing GMOs are just filled with chemicals. For example, a fake news story was leaked saying there was a tomato that contained a fish gene to make it last longer, and apparently the fish gene in the the tomato, a consumer had ate it and had an allergic reaction to the fish gene and ended up dying. . A lot of people go against GMOs and don't even know what the letters of “GMO” stand for. In a video I searched online, by Jimmy Fallon, he was interviewing people on the streets and was asking them, “what are GMOs?” An individual had said that GMOs are “corn bad stuff”, so a lot of people say that GMOs are bad, but they don't really know what they are. Because GMOs are made in a lab, people are afraid of having unnatural foods in their bodies and that gives them a reason to go against
