The gases are emitted mainly by cars, power plants, and other industrial sources that burn gasoline, coal, and other fossil fuels. Obviously, the emissions of these greenhouse gases in excess are leading to the planet’s consistent increase in temperature. For example, in a study conducted by the National Center for Atmospheric Research, it was confirmed that earth’s early century warming was caused by mostly solar and volcanic forcing, and the late century warming, from 1940-2000, was mostly caused by the increase of greenhouse gases. The National Resource Defense Council states, if global warming persists, there will be more air pollution and problems with water supplies as precipitation patterns change, as well as huge threats to ecosystems from the Everglades to the glaciers. Not only will there be hotter, longer heat waves and more intense storm systems, but also forests, farms and cities will face troublesome new pests and more mosquito-borne diseases.
(Ed. Debra A. Miller). Abnormal change in temperature can led to extreme temperatures that can cause death. Furthermore, sudden changes in the climate system caused by global warming can trigger dangerous storm, flooding, and many other natural catastrophic event. Overloading carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which was mainly caused by human activities such as burning of fossil fuel and destructing forests, trap excessive heat, and in turn causing the earth’s temperature increase dramatically.
Global warming is the increased warming effect of the atmospheric temperature resulting in a change of the Earth’s climate (USGS.gov, 2008). The increase warming of the temperature is the result from two greenhousegases such as carbon dioxide and methane that are being filtered and trapped into the Earth’s atmosphere. The layers of Earth’s atmosphere is to protect life from high-energy radiation and the frigid vacuum of space (nasa.gov, 2010), but if the atmosphere’s layers becomes thinner, its vital role of protection will diminish. Landfill wastes, industries and deforestation are why global warming exists, in turn will affect all life on Earth. Global Warming and The Environment Global warming is a term used to describe a gradual increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and its oceans (All About Global Warming, 2007, para.1). There is no doubt this is an important matter that will impact planet earth for many years to come. Global warming is a critical issue that impacts the entire world and the potential consequences caused by it will have a negative impact if human contribution is not reduced. Although many people disagree with the causes and outcomes, there is certainly enough information available to support the argument. At this time, global warming is said to be a crisis with carbon and emissions of Co2 being made out to be the culprit (Turpin, 2007, p.30).
We live at a period in time were natural disasters have become a current event in our world. The Earth’s climate is changing, the culprit, global warming. This is what popular media has guided us to believe. What causes global warming, “we do, with the emissions of carbon dioxide we produced”, claimed by the noble prize winning movie, The 11th Hour. Although in reality the Earth’s climate has gone through spikes in climate changes for centuries.
There are people in the world that believe that there is another reason why this is happening; earth is experiencing a natural cycle of evolution. Global warming is a very serious part of the world and a solution needs to be found immediately. The greenhouse effect is the cause of global warming in the world. The greenhouse effect is a topic of discussion throughout the world; it needs to be contained immediately. “Our effect on the environment, and in particular on climate change, is large and growing” (Tony Blair) The greenhouse effect is when sunlight and solar radiation enters the atmosphere and hits the earth and bounces back, but with the greenhouse effect it then goes back up into the atmosphere and is deflected back down and trapped in the atmosphere (Energy and the Environment).
These effects will occur globally and affect everyone. Global warming is occurring, as evidence has shown, with modern civilization a cause: And though its danger exists and its full reversal is improbable, humanity may inhibit it - as mankind’s responsibility. Because global warming poses a threat, global warming’s definition and its associated facts serves as very useful information. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines global warming as “the recent increase in the world’s temperature that is believed to be caused by the increase of certain gases (such as carbon dioxide) in the atmosphere.” Average global temperatures have risen to unusually high levels (Nuccitelli). In the last fifty years, the average temperature of the Earth’s surface has risen faster than ever recorded (Nuccitelli).
Global Warming The humanity is currently facing one of its biggest problems ever. Indeed, the Earth is warming and consequences might be devastating for the future generations. There is a general agreement among scientists that Earth's climate is being affected by industrial society. Industry affects global climate by releasing greenhouse gases (GHGs). The most significant GHG is carbon dioxide (CO2).
In recent years, global warming is a topic that has received much attention. It’s is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants, which also known as the green house effect. Global warming can negatively affect the earth's delicate ecosystems. It has been linked to dangerous new weather patterns, the extinction of plant and animal species and so many others bad effects. Global warming is caused by pollution eating away at the ozone layer of the atmosphere, as well as greenhouse gases trapping heat.
The effects on Earth from its inhabitants is causing the temperature on the Earth to rise, and creating many problems that will begin to occur in the coming decades. The greenhouse effect is the absorption of energy radiated from the Earth's surface by carbon dioxide and other gases in the atmosphere, causing the atmosphere to become warmer. The greenhouse effect is what is causing the temperature on the Earth to rise. Today, major changes are taking place. People are conducting an inadvertent global experiment by changing the face of the entire planet.
