Even though gay marriage is legal in some states, there are still big debates over whether to make it legal in all states. Two of the biggest issues with making same sex marriage legal are people’s religion and beliefs, but thats not the only issue with it. No two people are the exact same, therefor not everyone has the same beliefs and opinions. As for me I strongly believe that everyone should be allowed to chose who they love and how they live. People should be able to do what makes them happy without being told they are wrong for their sexual orientation. “We are not seeking special treatment. We seek equality. But the people who claim they are so religious stand back and fight against it while judging homosexuals for there lifestyle; When it says in the bible “Thou Shall not judge”. They claim they are doing right by supporting what they believe in when they are breaking the commandments they preach. It’s a big debate, but everyone deserves equality and the freedom to marry whom they chose, no matter the gender. More than 20 studies have been done on about 300 children of lesbians and gay men. Some compare children of divorced lesbian moms or gay dads with children of heterosexual divorced parents. the results of every study is that the children turn out just fine on every conceivable measure of emotional and social development. Being a free nation, we have no right to take away the privileges of marriage from two people who wish to commit to a relationship with someone they love. Society has come a long way from the days when interracial marriage was illegal. However discrimination still exists for many minority groups. Legalizing same sex marriage would be taking a step closer to a nation free from prejudice.
