Even though gay marriage is legal in some states, there are still big debates over whether to make it legal in all states. Two of the biggest issues with making same sex marriage legal are people’s religion and beliefs, but thats not the only issue with it. No two people are the exact same, therefor not everyone has the same beliefs and opinions. As for me I strongly believe that everyone should be allowed to chose who they love and how they live. People should be able to do what makes them happy without being told they are wrong for their sexual orientation. “We are not seeking special treatment. We seek equality. We are asking that marriage laws be applied equally to all couples, regardless of sexual orientation. That is the only gay agenda-equality for everyone under the law” says reverend Troy Perry from the Metropolitan community church. Equality for every American is listed under our Civil Rights. The right to Marriage and Divorce was intended for everyone, yet the government took away that right from gays and lesbians because they didn’t approve. Gay marriage has been a huge argument sense the 1960s. Theres the side that doesn't approve for religious reasons, and a side supports same sex marriage whether gay or straight. But the people who claim they are so religious stand back and fight against it while judging homosexuals for there lifestyle; When it says in the bible “Thou Shall not judge”. They claim they are doing right by supporting what they believe in when they are breaking the commandments they preach. It’s a big debate, but everyone deserves equality and the freedom to marry whom they chose, no matter the gender. Sherman Stein is a former mathematics professor at the University of California, Dav... ... middle of paper ... ...tically in the past 20 years. The lesbian baby boom began in Boston and San francisco in the mid 1980s. There is no reason to worry about children of gay couples. More than 20 studies have been done on about 300 children of lesbians and gay men. Some compare children of divorced lesbian moms or gay dads with children of heterosexual divorced parents. the results of every study is that the children turn out just fine on every conceivable measure of emotional and social development. Being a free nation, we have no right to take away the privileges of marriage from two people who wish to commit to a relationship with someone they love. Society has come a long way from the days when interracial marriage was illegal. However discrimination still exists for many minority groups. Legalizing same sex marriage would be taking a step closer to a nation free from prejudice.
With the economic support, the adoption rates rising, and the equality same-sex couples deserve, gay marriage deserves to be legalized throughout the nation and the world. Rejecting the right of marriage to these couples hurts them and the way they are able to live their lives. Everyone deserves marriage and life equality despite the person they love because we have equality rights based on us as an individual, not on who we decide to love.
Legalizing gay marriage has been a controversial topic in the past few years. In my opinion, gay people should be allowed to get married because it is a civil right. It shouldn 't matter what gender they prefer because they 're still regular people. Making gay marriage illegal, is the same as taking away someone 's freedom and civil rights. That is unethical and completely awful. There 's no harm being done by letting two people who are in love with each other get married. However, many religious fundamentalists are against this and believe gay marriage is wrong and needs to be stopped. Homosexual couples should have the right to get married because it 's a civil right and their sexual preference doesn 't make them any less human.
Scientific studies have shown that children who grow up in one or two-parent gay or lesbian households fare just as well emotionally and socially as children whose parents are heterosexual. Studies have shown that children are more influenced by their interactions with their parents, than by their sexual orientation. (Kathy Belge, 2014)
As an American citizen, a person should be entitled to marry whoever they choose, regardless of gender or sexual preference. Gay marriage is something that some people consider to be taboo while other people are very supportive of it; I am one of the latter. The ability to marry someone is a basic human right and it should not be taken away from someone because they love a person of the same gender. One of the main reasons that gay marriage is illegal in the United States is because of what the Bible says about it, regardless of the fact that the first Amendment of the US Constitution says that there is to be a separation between church and state. Approximately three point eight percent of the United States population is made up of people
Gay Marriage has been debated in many countries for a long time. It interferes with citizens civil rights so is therefore a major issue. Many gay couples today have come out and expressed their sexuality. Although many people are against legalization of gay marriage, I believe it should be legalized for the reason that it encourages strong family values, leads to the increasing number of child adoption, and is a citizen civil rights.
In my opinion we are all equal. we are all human beings who have the same abilities,we have two arms, two legs a brain etc… and they have many qualities that can be developed but only by the fact that their sexual orientation is different from the "common" man and woman, woman and man I feel we are depriving them from so many things, which in my opinion we are doing an injustice as a society.
I also believe that a person who is homosexual should be given the same rights as any other heterosexual person because after all, we are all human beings. Many may say that “oh yes, the Bible condemns it” but the Bible also said to “Do unto others as you would like them do unto you.” I think that we as humans have developed this negative behavior to when it comes to difference. Some may compare homosexuality to incest and molestation and rape but such a comparison is quite unfair, as with incest, molestation and rape, there is no free consent to it.
...l preference, and cognitive development have been tracked for these children into adulthood. Study after study have asked different questions in attempts to find similarities and differences in children raised in these two different family structures, but scientific consensus shows that there are no noticeable differences in children brought up by a gay or lesbian couple.
Legal marriage is the right of all Americans regardless of their sexual orientation. Gay marriage is certainly a hot button issue. It invokes an emotional dialogue filled with passion, rage, hate and fear. However, at the base of it all, are two people who are in a committed relationship living normal and productive lives and contributing to society in a positive manner. This issue is being debated in every state of the union, and will eventually go to the Supreme Court.
Why isn’t gay marriage legal yet? How does gay marriage affect people that aren’t gay? Why does it matter to those people? Why can’t gay people have the same rights as straight people? Gay marriage should be legal worldwide. Gay marriage or same-sex marriage is when a man and man or women and a woman get married. Same-sex marriage impacts society in different types of ways, some people are affected by it because they think it is against the bible, others seem to have no impact or problem with same-sex marriage. However for the gay community it affects them, because in some states they are not allowed to marry the one they are in love with it. Also it impacts them because there are groups of people against same-sex marriage and the gay community is constantly being judged by people opposed to same-sex marriage. Seventeen states have legalized same-sex marriage; Thirty-three states banned same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage provides a more stable environment for children of gay couples. Legalizing same-sex marriage does not affect or harm heterosexual marriages. Marriage is a union of love, not a union of genders.
Gay and lesbian unions have been for a long time a subject that no one liked to discuss. For the last few decades, gays and lesbians have come out and expressed their sexuality preferences. Many believe that same sex marriage should not be legalized because it's against the moral. It's against the definition of marriage, which is considered as the union of a man and a woman as a husband and wife. Same sex marriage should be legalized because the way society views the union of lesbian and gays can a change. Another reason why same sex marriage should be legalized is that children that are issued from a gay or lesbian couple will be loved and raised in a family that is legally recognized under the law. Lesbians and gays also deserve to have the same rights as heterosexuals.
There are many opponents of gay people as it is, and they all have their reasons to dislike the idea of permitting them get married. One of the main reasons is that the primary purpose of marriage is procreation. Because gay couples are unable to have children, they should not be allowed to marry (Schiffen 495). Another main argument is that the word marriage means the union of one man and one woman. This is a long-standing theme of most major Western religions. Under a proposed bill known as the Defense of Marriage act, marriage is defined as “a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.” Furthermore, it defines a spouse as “ a person of the opposite sex who is a husband or wife” (What 1). Under these guidelines, it is quite obvious that gay couples would not be eligible for marriage. People against homosexual marriage also say that it is a person’s choice to be gay. Since the individual chooses to be a homosexual, they should not be given special privileges. Another argument that you hear is that these couples should not get married simply because of the torment and ridicule they would be faced with in their everyday lives. There are news reports from across America telling about how a gay person was beaten or killed just because they were looked at as different. Some of these people would end up the target of verbal abuse and maybe even physical abuse, just because some heterosexual people see them as different.
In recent years, same-sex marriage has become a more controversial topic on whether it’s right or wrong. People should not feel coerced to agree with something they believe is wrong; clearly, same-sex marriage is immoral and unnatural. Many complications come with same-sex marriages including financial pressures, social pressures, moral pressures, and health risks.
Marriage is the joining of a man and a woman, who loves one another and wants to spend the rest of their lives together. It is not the joining of two women or two men and I do not believe the society our or U.S. government redefine the true meaning of marriage. I am against same sex marriage because of the following several reasons. Gay marriages are unacceptable in my opinion because it goes against God’s words. God’s word is the truth and no one can change it.
The legality of gay marriage is a hot topic for many reasons. Traditionally marriage has been known as a legal bond between a man and a woman. Times have changed since those days. More and more people are coming out of the closet everyday. There are more gay people today than there ever have been and that number is only increasing. Marriage is a way for two people to show their commitment towards each other, so it should not matter what their gender or sexual orientation is.
