Field Placement Reflection

During the placement, the supervisor assisted me how to adapt to the internship process; for example, taught management skills and maintain a good relationship with the supervisor and other colleagues. It can improve my work efficiency and professionally during my placement. I also participate in a number of personal health care lectures, like care conference, staff training. It helps me to maintain personal hygiene and care performance of internship.

I have followed the field placement manual that how to roles and responsibilities in the placement. For instance, I have a regular scheduled to meet with my field supervisor. When I encountered any issues that supervision will guide and provide information and knowledge for me how to do as

The process of how to wash our hands in an appropriate way. I injected the flu shot which provided by my placement.

I attended all day Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) training. It not only enhanced my understanding of the characteristics of the elderly, like behaviour and disease, but also taught and practiced how to face of special circumstance. I can able to use gentle persuasive techniques that to determine thinking and solve the crisis problem. Therefore, it can deal with some of the elderly improper behaviour and react.

After I finished my first placement, I did the “Fundamentals of case management practice - taking care of yourself” in GWL247. It can help me to review the knowledge what I learned in the placement and understand myself what improvements and successful have been made. Also, I have read the journal which is “Awareness of self - A Critical Tool”. It is a worth reference for me to enhance skills to get along with people and self-reflection.
