Dr.Denial Chadborn In this project, we were asked to violate a social norm in a public areas and make observations on what we saw and how our audience responded. The social norm that I choose to violate was to do some weird thing in the middle of the zebra-crossing by making other people wait. This experiment was quite fun and embarrassing to see the face of people who were waiting for my weird act in the middle of the road. I went with my friends to do this experiment in front of Fayard Hall. I monitored the reactions of many people from the front screen of their vehicles, from their repetitive horn sound, etc, throughout the experiment to observe the good result. This violation of social norms seems to be very dangerous, but still I tried my best. Being a pedestrian, I started crossing a road through Zebra-crossing by taking as much as time I could take. Sometimes I used to act as if I was tying my lases. Sometimes I used to become like a lame or disabled person so that I could take more time to cross the road. Furthermore, I tried to pretend like I lost my something valuable and was searching continuously without caring traffic lights. Likewise, I tried for several times to see the reaction of people towards me and

I had thought I would get lot of reactions, but there were some folks who didn’t even see at me. Overall, more than half people reacted on me. From this experiment I learned a lot about social norms and society. Basically, I learned to know about the people perception towards violation of social norms; how social norms works and how much they play a role in everyone’s lives. I learned how people react toward people who don’t follow a social norms and break them. According to my view of analysis, these social norms and violation are created by people within a society, but there are some people who don’t ever care if someone violate their society social
