The definitions of writing are variously stated by some experts. According to Meyers (2005.,p.2), “Writing is partly a talent, but it’s mostly a skill, and the any skill it improve with practice.” Rivers (1981.,p.294) says that writing is delivering information or expression of original ideas in a consecutive way in the new language. Brown (2001.,p.336) claimed that writing is a thinking process. In addition, Elbow (1973) and Brown (2001.,p.336) says that writing is a two-step process. The first process is figuring out the meaning and the second is putting the meaning into language. Writing represents what we think. It is because the writing process reflects things, which stay in the mind.

Through these media, writing has important role especially in giving information about what happens in the world. The readers will read it if the writers make a good writing. Writing becomes to be important for the students; first writing is a tool for discovery. When someone writes, he or she stimulates his or her thinking through process from the act of writing, writing help us to “harvest’’ what we know. Second, writing helps someone to organize his or her ideas. Third, writing helps someone to absorb information, when he or she write about a topic, he or she learn it better. Fourth, students get much of their knowledge through written materials like books, magazines, and newspaper. Especially in writing their paper, they must quote some important statements of expert to support their ideas
