The definitions of writing are variously stated by some experts. According to Meyers (2005.,p.2), “Writing is partly a talent, but it’s mostly a skill, and the any skill it improve with practice.” Rivers (1981.,p.294) says that writing is delivering information or expression of original ideas in a consecutive way in the new language. Brown (2001.,p.336) claimed that writing is a thinking process. In addition, Elbow (1973) and Brown (2001.,p.336) says that writing is a two-step process. The first process is figuring out the meaning and the second is putting the meaning into language. Writing represents what we think. It is because the writing process reflects things, which stay in the mind.

Through these media, writing has important role especially in giving information about what happens in the world. The readers will read it if the writers make a good writing. Writing becomes to be important for the students; first writing is a tool for discovery. When someone writes, he or she stimulates his or her thinking through process from the act of writing, writing help us to “harvest’’ what we know. Second, writing helps someone to organize his or her ideas. Third, writing helps someone to absorb information, when he or she write about a topic, he or she learn it better. Fourth, students get much of their knowledge through written materials like books, magazines, and newspaper. Especially in writing their paper, they must quote some important statements of expert to support their ideas
According to Runciman, there are many plausible reasons that students and other people don’t enjoy writing. Evidence, assumptions, and language and tone are the basis for which Runciman makes his argument. Overall, this argument is effective because reliable and well known sources are used in a logical fashion. Also, the assumptions made about the audience are accurate and believable. Runciman used his assumptions wisely when writing his claim and in turn created a compelling, attention capturing argument. The article was written so that students and teachers at any level could understand and easily read it. This argument is interesting, captivating, relevant through its age, and can relate to students and teachers at almost every academic level.
What is writing? This is a question that is rarely discussed among people. I believe that most people have written something at least once in their lifetime. Yet if asked this question, no one can undoubtedly explain what the word “writing” means. To me, writing is a way to express your feelings on paper. Orwell states that a good author should not put his/her personality into their writings, “And yet it is also true that one can write nothing readable unless one constantly struggles to efface one 's own personality” (Orwell 5). If the student desires to grow in knowledge, they must be willing to adopt a new style of writing as they prepare for higher education. The purpose of a college is not to just feed facts to a student, but rather use the professor to teach the students to develop critical thinking habits so that new knowledge flourishes in the student. These habits are necessary for the new writer if they desire to further improve their writing potential. This requires the writer to focus on writing to communicate ideas that engage and persuade the reader. Clear, precise, and factual writing will assist in this process by teaching the student methods to avoid developing weak or unclear arguments through the elimination of opinions from the essay. Writing is a way in which a person can express their thoughts and ideas through the use of words. Everybody has their own writing styles. Some may consider theirs as inspirational while others think of it to be bad. Writing requires a lot of patience and time. In my case, writing has never been my favorite thing to do. I am no Shakespeare and I never will be, writing has always made me feel uncomfortable. In the past, I had always considered writing to be one of the most difficult tasks. I often wrote about topics that were not of my interest. I rarely did any writing out of school or for leisure as most people do. I only wrote because the teacher asked us to. Writing has always been forced onto me. Even though my writing isn't that great, I've felt that I've never been given the freedom to express my voice. Academic writing has always made me anxious. And, anxiety had resulted in my procrastination. Even though I consider writing to be one of the toughest tasks, I've felt that giving myself enough time to think allows me to do better. Silence helps me think beyond horizons. However, the fear of impressing someone, the anxiety and frustration is what makes me a developing writer.

Janet Emig says, "writing represents a unique mode of learning-not merely valuable, not merely special, but unique” (1) meaning that writing is far more essential than we ought to make it seem. Anne Herrington wants educators teaching in economics, history, chemistry or any other subject to guide their students into understanding why progressing their writing skills will be more helpful to them. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the educator; whether he/she wants their students to use writing as a way for students to adapt to different disciplines.

Individuals can benefit from having multiple literacies. Literacy in area outside of academia can be repurposed and used in academic settings too. The same is true for academic literacies; academic expertise can prove beneficial in other areas. In order to repurpose literacy, one would apply knowledge by reconstructing past literacies and reapplying it in order to enhance present literacies. One educator, Kevin Roozen, described repurposing literacy as blending together of extracurricular elements and of elements from other literate experiences (Roozen 18). Mary Maragrget Holt, dean of the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma, is a prime illustration of this very idea.

I find it difficult to write essays from time to time, so I follow the writing process. The writing process is an approach to writing that involves pre-writing, drafting, and revising and editing. The writing process helps develop facts and ideas from reading about the topic to writing and editing essays.
Qualitative and quantitative instruments were used in obtaining data for this instructional problem. The first instrument used was quantitative, the instructor gave students a writing assignment, and when it was graded, it was clear that there was a problem with effective topic and thesis statements, as well as general organization of the paper. I personally do not enjoy writing like most people would feel about reading a dictionary. I am cautiously treading water with every word I type. I have always found writing to be a tedious process. I have never found ease in wording something the way I want to; therefore, it usually sounds so much better in my head. I’ve never considered myself to be comfortable with writing in general.
