Being a parent can be one of the most difficult jobs a person will ever have to undertake as a profession. Being a parent is a full-time job that never ends even if they are grown up or even become a parent or expecting to be a parent themselves. Anyone can become a parent once they conceive with or adopt a child but being a good parent comes with a lot of ups and downs. A good parent is considered as someone who teaches his or her child the difference between what’s right and what’s wrong. It is very important for us to teach our children from an early age what is right. Children should be taught to respect their elders, leader, parents and the laws of the country in which they reside. A child should be scolded for whatever they have done wrong and in return taught the right way in which it should be done. A good parent shows love and affections to his or her child. Children need to feel loved by their parents, it creates a sense of safety, comfort and trust between the child and his or her parent. A good parent is a role model to his or her child; parents should portray all the good characteristics of a good parent. Being a positive role model for appropriate behavior is more effective than specific disciplinary measure children learn through observation and often mimic the behavior of their parents. A good parent would make sure they teach his or her child moral values and kindness such as compassion, honesty, tolerance, patience and unconditional love. Firstly, its the parent’s responsibility to provide a shelter for their child or children. For instance, parents provide a shelter to protect their children from the elements of the environment such as rain, sun or cold. If children are exposed to these condition without a shelter can cause them to fall ill or even die. Secondly, a good parent would nutritious foods for his or her child. For example, parents should make sure that toddler gets the required nutrition such as protein, calcium, and carbohydrates for the proper development and growth of your child. Thirdly, a good parent should provide medical care for his or her child. For example, mothers who are expecting to give birth are required to have regular check up with their doctors of midwives to prevent potential health problems between both mother and child throughout the pregnancy.
