Introduction Pearl Harbour is an American naval base in the middle of the Pacific Ocean which was utilised to control the Pacific. On the 7th December 1941 Pearl Harbour was attached with a surprise strike by The Imperial Japanese Navy. The reason for the Japanese army to attack Pearl Harbour was that apart from destroying important American fleet units they also insured that the Americans could not interfere with their plan of invading overseas territories of South Asia that were already conquered from the Netherlands, the United States and the United Kingdom. The memorial of Pearl Harbour is still present now days, the amount of life looses were 2402 and 1247 men wounded. The six aircraft carriers used at Pearl Harbour by the Japanese army are the most powerful carrier task ever assembled with over 420 embarked planes, their names are Akagi, Kaga, Soryu, Hiryu, Shokaku and Zuikaku. In the Japanese striking force there were other forces employed, like fast battleships, cruisers and destroyers. The cruisers and destroyers mission was to damage and sink the U.S. ships and aircraft carriers with torpedoes. For the Japanese the use of torpedoes was the best option because it could attack under the water, therefore the enemy would not see it coming and when the target would have got hit it would create a huge amount of damage. During the first attach wave large Japanese submarines deployed five midget submarines that were carried by them.
