As the technology advances, people are able to access more information about the world. With this globalization, it makes us aware of more dilemmas that are occurring in the world. The term health disparities can be defined as a negatively impacting obstacle that affects health and is related to social or economic disadvantages (Pacquiao, 2016). In the following paragraphs, I will discuss the current health disparities, health care reform, and the protecting of human rights.

The purpose of the law was to help provide health insurance to all citizens in the United States. It requires people to purchase health insurance whether it is private or a government health insurance policy. Some of the pros that the Affordable Care Act has brought are the increase in the availability of healthcare and health insurance. It has allowed those that previously did not have access to quality healthcare receive the care they needed. It has also helped individuals stay on their parent’s health insurance longer. This was personally helpful for me because I did not find a job with insurance directly after my first degree and still needed health insurance. However, there are some drawbacks to the Affordable Care Act. In the United States we are very individualized, and expect people to accept responsibility for their own health and wellness. However, when illness does strict an individual it can be devastating to the family, friends, and those that are relying on the person who is now incapacitated. Also, the Affordable Care Act does not address the certain dilemmas that could affect health and life. These include poverty, racism, segregation, discrimination, and environmental issues (Pacquiao,
