As I researched, this article stuck out to me because over the years cruise tourism has been the fastest growing category of leisure tourism. It is recognized as a successful and dynamic subsector of the global tourism industry, amongst the main cruise lines occupying the highest ranks of the tourism and leisure sector. Unfortunately, because of the coastline and marine surroundings, indigenous economies and on the sociocultural nature of port areas, cruise tourism has grown becoming a vast concern. This article on issues of cruise tourism discussed selective concerns about this particular industry through a responsible tourism lens.

Environmental Issues
When you deal with numerous issues dealing with cruise tourism, the environmental issues that are among the cruise industry are concerning. A cruise ship produces a rather big quantity of waste streams. Some particular waste streams include oily bilge seawater, ballast seawater, and air emissions from gas that are usual to most ocean-going tourism. However, there are other specific waste streams when dealing with cruise ships, which are the wastewater management, airborne emissions from engines and solid surplus. Wastewater becomes a problem in the cruise tourism industry, which is why wastewater treatment has been advanced in latest years. “Behavior procedures on board cruise boats are often less popular given the inadequate space available for the full group of treatment systems normally found on land” (Klein, 2011). As it arises to air emissions from fuel the article explained that air emissions from ships is an obvious foundation of pollution. ...hen it comes to the tourism industry it is not what can be gotten away with but what is the most appropriate and “responsible” behavior for the environment. If I was to have this particular challenge, a step that I would execute it that when it comes to cruise corporations they need to be more clear and consistent about what they do and what they don’t do. As for responsibility, in order to have it you need to understand a sense of responsibility. For example, when you discuss this industry parties such as investors and clients should be able to effectively regulate different system functions and also have knowledge about the impact of each ship and route.
Lastly, it is important that detailed information is available which will also help stakeholders in local communities make verdicts about whether cruise lines and the industry in itself are behaving responsibly.
