I strongly believe I have the necessary skills, experience and potential to become an excellent primary school teacher. I currently work for Explore Learning, a tuition company where I undertake the role of a Tutor. My role is similar to the role of a teacher in many ways. I work within a team to plan, teach and support children with their studies. Throughout my fantastic two year job role as a tutor, I have grown to love and aspire to make a difference to a child's education. After receiving training including the National Curriculum methods, I have developed planning, teaching and marking skills, using various resources to support a child. Additionally, I have undertaken work experience at Moat Farm Primary school.
I was able to observe and provide support for the children during lessons. It was intriguing to observe the teachers approach of implementing various methods and strategies into teaching. I gained an insight into effective teaching, which I had the opportunity to demonstrate what I had learnt by teaching a literacy lesson. I enjoyed my time working with the children and...
Elementary School teacher, a professional educator for grades k-5, is a career I wish to pursue because I want to teach children the building blocks of education, love the energy and excitement that younger children give off, and want to be able to help children with special challenges. I have wanted to be an elementary school teacher for about three years now, I knew I wanted to pursue this occupation because there are many benefits to being an educator, and have always worked with children well. Some challenges are I will have to get a bachelor 's degree and have to complete a state licensing exam (“preparation 1”)
...by broadening my education by providing information not found in textbooks, and providing pre-professional experience.
Volunteering at a children’s crisis treatment facility, volunteering with Special Olympics, coaching children’s sports teams for 10 years and working as a substitute education assistant has increased my understanding of childhood development. Grandmound Elementary School provides me with opportunities to strengthen my leadership and collaboration skills, through teaching art (as a volunteer) to the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and serving as PTA president. I was able to implement many enriching opportunities for students in areas of art, science, and reading. I learned to work as a team, set targets, achieve goals, give and receive guidance. Participating in these activities has confirmed that working with families and particularly children are my purpose.
... for problem reduction and prevention and I can help students create meaningful lives for themselves with the partnership of their families, the community and schools.
Not only was I able to teach her math and reading comprehension skills, but how to carry herself as a smart and extraordinarily capable young lady. In return, she taught me patience and how sometimes you just need to approach a problem differently to see the
This class added to my knowledge of working with children such as I usually pay attention and have active listening when children talk to me that also help me to meet children’s needs. I also feel more confident to speak up at
I was able to have a great learning experience as I stood in front of 45 individuals and teach them finances. This is something that I feel I would like to pursue as my career and I found that this experience was meaningful in the way that I enjoyed teaching and helping others learn concepts that can help and change their lives. I feel that I learned from this experience how to be confident, professional and that I love doing this type of work.
Being a teacher is a noble cause, though it also seems to be the dream of idiots and morons. It is a job where you work constantly and are always told what to teach. You are expected to teach to a standardized test. It is a job path that only the bravest take. The people who claim that those who can’t do teach, know nothing about teaching or how hard it is to teach. Especially high school students who have no desire to learn. Children in their last required chapter in their education. Their young pubescent minds focused more on the opposite sex over their grades. How do you teach such a difficult age group? How do you keep them engaged? Especially with a subject that so many find boring and tedious, English and English literature.
I chose education as my career path after working in a classroom to fulfill a Field Study course. The children had a powerful impact; they were amazing; challenging, and most of all loving. In helping them, I quickly realized that I was the one receiving the gift that ultimately inspired me down the path of serving disadvantaged children. After experiencing two semesters in classrooms, I realized my enthusiasm for teaching was not a mere in-the-moment feeling but rather a genuine enthusiasm. I became aware that teachers are an important foundation in society and I look forward to the opportunity to develop the skills children need to adapt and apply for the rest of their lives by encouraging knowledge, character and resilience.
I believe that my purpose as an educator is to guide students by providing them access to information, rather than being their primary source of information. I will give my students the tools they need and the opportunity to think for themselves. I am a strong believer in hands-on activities because I believe that you learn more through experience than you learn through a lecture. My ultimate goal is to help them discover a love for learning the same way my teachers did for me.
What is a teacher? A teacher is someone who students rely on for further knowledge and comprehension. Often, a teacher is viewed as a role model towards their students. In many times, teachers can help guide students into a better future. Characteristics like preparation, compassion, having and showing respect to students can make a teacher more effective.
... to interchange ideas and clarify doubts or issues I have. I have to contain myself for doing the most of the speaking in some of the classes, overcome laziness to analyze how well or bad an activity or class turned out and think of better ways to do things when they did not work as I thought they will . To conclude I am aware that the only responsible of my learning is me. “Teacher training or education is something that can be managed by others; Teacher development is something that can be done only by and for oneself” Wallace, 1991.
One good quality a teacher should have is, respect for the students. Each person’s ideas and opinions should be valued and not judged. They should be able to express themselves without feeling insecure. Another good quality is, having high expectations for your students. Each student should be encouraged to do their best and achieve goals that they may have never met before. Another good quality is, I believe a teacher should have is good communication skills. They should keep not only the students informed on what is going on in the class, they should definitely keep the parents informed as well. Teachers need to know how to communicate with all their students because some are at different levels than others.
In conclusion, us teachers must find ways to reach the minds of every individual by allowing them to express themselves and understand every lesson taught. My goal as a teacher is to provide to in each and every student with the necessary skills and knowledge so they could succeed on their own. I want to leave a memory of myself as a teacher who was not afraid to roll up the sleeves to help another student in any way and influenced others to do the right thing. My colleagues recall me a teacher who regularly participates and who was active to contribute assistance to the school community.
My goal as a teacher is to improve my student’s education and help them grow knowledgably. I like to see students at different levels develop with each other and learn. I want to challenge the students and watch them grow to their highest level of education. Therefore, having the students in groups is the best educational strategy I like to use a lot. I want my students to have freedom with whatever creativity they want, and to allow them to express themselves at any time. With this freedom students will be able to experiment with likes and dislikes and be able to figure their weaknesses and strengths. Education is for everyone and it’s a right by low for all; teachers, on the other hand, should do their jobs very honestly and effectively.
