About Sex Tourism Victor Choe Selkirk College, RHOT159 We, as human beings, physical and biological beings, basically have the desire for reproduction, that is, sex. (Myers) And it has been a debate for a long time about sex. Whether sex is morally right or not. There is a wide range of belief. Although it depends on each individual, most of the scientists believe that sex is not morally wrong because it is the desire we all have as human beings. On the other hand, the belief is a little more complicated. The people who are committed to certain religions and the people claiming to be ‘spiritual’ say that sex is beautiful and sacred thing, thus, we should not do it carelessly. One of the ways is to go to other countries where sex is the attraction. The countries include Thailand, Netherland, Cuba, and Kenya. People go to those countries and satisfy their needs and it is called, ‘sex tourism’ as Wikipedia defines it as ‘travel to engage in sexual activities, particularly with prostitutes.’(Wikipedia) According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, it is defined as ‘trips organized from within the tourism sector, or from outside this sector but using its structures and networks, with the primary purpose of effecting a commercial sexual relationship by the tourist with residents at the …show more content…

As the social media system is developing, people can get almost any information that they want from the small screens in their hands. People go to those countries, (By the way, we can see most of the countries people go to for sex travel have very hot temperature although Netherland is not the case; Thailand, Cuba, Kenya.) and the sex industries in the destination countries notice that people from other countries come to their countries for sexual pleasure. They start growing their businesses bigger, hiring prostitutes, very much daring to kidnap people. Right now, the overall international sex industry—including prostitution, magazines, videos, the Internet, and phone services—has been estimated to be worth way more than 20 billion dollars.
