First of all, coal can be classified in many different classes. One way is known as coal rank. Coal rank is a measure of degree of change (metamorphosis) from the peat stage. The ranks range from low rank to high rank. These are called lignite, subituminous, bituminous, and anthracite. Heating value and sulfur content reach maximum values at the bituminous coal rank. This stage contains very important environmental implications. Low ranking coal (eg lignite) releases a smoky flame when ignited. Ignition is also easy. High rank coal (eg antracite) has a clean flame and difficult ignition.

Broadly, the divine command theory is a religious moral code in which God’s commands determine what human beings should or should not do. As such, it is expected for theists to subscribe to the divine command theory of morality. The deontological interpretation of the divine command theory separates actions into one of the following categories: mandatory for human beings to perform, prohibited for human beings to perform, or optional for human beings to perform. Those actions that are mandatory to perform are ones which have been expressly commanded by God. Failing to commit a mandatory action would be defying God’s commands, and thus, according to the divine command theory of morality, immoral. Actions that are prohibited are ones that God expressly commands human beings do not perform. Consequently, to perform a prohibited action would be immoral. Finally, those actions that God does not expressly command that human beings should perform or should avoid performing are optional; there are no moral implications to performing or not performing such acts. As with any other disease, drug addiction causes stress and breaks down the body immune system. Not only does drug addiction break the body immunes system down but it also decreases brain function. In the book addiction treatment a strengths perspective, the authors Wormer and Davis stated, “Other remedies directed toward the physical side of drug use are more natural, holistic approaches. These include various herbal remedies, acupuncture, massage, hypnosis, and biofeedback.” (Pg 204) In my opinion, the holistic approach can be very practical for treating the disease of addiction because it will help people gain the proper balance for those who suffer from addiction.

The Divine Command theory of ethics is a theory that states that an act is right or wrong and good or bad based on whether or not God commands or prohibits us from doing it. This means that the only thing that makes an action morally wrong is because God says it is. There are two sides to this theory; the restricted and the unrestricted. The restricted theory basically says that an action is obligatory if and only if it is good and God commanded it; the unrestricted theory states that an act is only obligatory if it is commanded by God, it is not obligatory if it is prohibited by God and it is optional if and only if God has not commanded nor prohibited it.
I’ve long been familiar with the concept of coal mines, but a common occurrence I was unfamiliar with previous to this class was the concept of coal mine fires, but it is a huge problem, both economically and environmentally.
What comes to mind when you think of coal mining? If you're like me, coal mining means living in darkness and a cold hearted industry. Other words that come to mind are poverty and oppression. Coal mining is not a job that you dream about or get a degree for. People who are coal miners do not chose a life full of danger and repression, they get stuck with it. There are many dangers that come along with coal mining, not only for the workers, but for the environment. Coal mining and the coal industry have caused irreversible damage to our environment and has killed innocent miners.
When coal gets burned they start to release harmful dangerous toxins such as mercury, lead and arsenic that will then escape into the air. It also releases large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere. These emissions increase the greenhouse effect in the atmosphere and lead to global warming.
The view that God creates the moral law is often called the "Divine Command Theory of Ethics." According to this view, what makes an action right is that God wills it to be done. That an atheist should find this theory suspect is obvious, for, if one doesn't believe in God or if one is unsure which God is the true God, being told that one must do as God commands will not help one solve any moral dilemmas. According to Divine Command Theory, nothing is right or wrong unless God makes it so. Whatever God says goes. So if God had decreed that adultery was permissible, then adultery would be permissible.

Objections of divine command theory question the legitimecy of the written sources and if the source of goodness is in the commands of God before he gives them or if only commands he gives are good. I think that divine command theory is somewhat correct because although I do think it is confusing to know what God in what source is the most reliable I think that God exists and I believe he loves everyone. I do think that God commands actions because they are good and he is also good. But if God asked me to kill my own child, like he commanded Abraham according to the text, I would not see the action as good and I would be terribly afraid and not follow the command.
