Dario Argento is arguably the world’s best and most talented horror film director. The director made some of the most popular horror movies including Deep Red (Profondo Rosso) – 1975 and The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (L’uccello Dalle piume di Cristallo) – 1970. We can thank Mr. Dario Argento for directing and Writing more than 20 great movies in his lifetime most of them horror. He accomplished a lot and he also helped to add a lot to the horror movie genre. His Horror movies generally had an emphasis on bright saturated colors, complex Cinematography, and skillful editing which came together to produce extremely violent movies. The techniques that he used made the murder look almost alluring. Which brings us to his American hit and arguably his best film which is probably his masterpiece and his most influential film: Suspiria – 1977 a film that he Directed it and help write it (only during post-production). Argento’s work has a lot of surrealism, in his movie Deep Red (Profondo Rosso) – 1975 Argento’s most surreal movie. The movie showed how a movie could look and feel unusually strange and almost like an experiment and at the same time still be attractive and professionally made. This surrealism helped inspire John Carpenter’s Halloween – 1978 and Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm – 1979. Phantasm had the dreamlike quality that the Deep red had. What Dario Argento did had an inspiration on Lucio Fulci's The Beyond– 1981, Brian De Palma's Raising Cain –1992 and every Giallo that came out, Argento’s work also had an effect across the pond in Hollywood. When one watches films such Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm– 1979 it's hard not to think or not see Argento’s affluence in that movie, even though Don Coscarelli did not come out and saw that Argento’s was an influence.
