Critical Reflection: Section B

At first, my feelings towards working in a team were irritated, doubting and skeptical as I had never worked on a group assignment before and was distrustful about my grade on the assignment is not only dependent on my contribution, but also the contribution of others. At first, I thought that any lack of effort and poor quality of work that may potentially be done by my peers could negatively impact my mark.
This was due to myself being quite introverted, preferring to work on my own, as I do not have to rely on and collaborate with others.
However, following the completion of the group assessment, I have come to realize that the experiences gained and skills developed when working within a team will assist me in the future to have a positive group dynamic when undergoing other team/group projects. This can be achieved understanding the situation from each person’s point of view. Taking the time to make sure that everyone's perspective is listened to. After both sides of a perspective are discussed, attempt to compromise between all person’s involved by coming to a common conclusion so that the group as a whole can move forward.
To avoid conflict in future instances it is suggested that at the beginning of the assessment/project, some ground rules should be set in the first meeting to maintain a positive environment from the beginning through to the end (Carnegie Mellon University, n.d.).
The attitudes/values/beliefs, as well as strategies when working within the team and how to address issues if they ever arise throughout a project, have taught me how to communicate and collaborate with others in a professional setting. Therefore enabling me in the future to develop and sustain a positive group dynamic when undergoing future team/group
