The bible is obviously broken up into two covenants, The Old Testament and New Testament. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit wasn’t poured out among the people like it is today. This was a covenant that God made with his people for their salvation or also known as the Covenant of Law. In the New Testament we believe Christ’s death is our salvation. When you read the Old Testament, their culture is so different from ours. It was Law to follow the word of God where today you have a choice and through the son of God you may enter heaven. Many people read the bible and they forget that the Historical Culture isn’t always straight forward like they would like. A freehold covenant is a promise or an obligation made by a land owner to another regarding the use of the land. It is a type of contract within the doctrine of privity and usually the rights and obligations it creates normally binds those that are contracted to it and no one else. A covenant is usually made by deed. A “restrictive covenant” to which the doctrine of (Tulk v Moxhay)1 applies it does not need to be created by a deed It can include “a mere agreement and no covenant”.
Abraham was portrayed as the father of the Jewish people and this serves as a key element in Judaism. A covenant is an agreement between two parties. Between God and Abraham there existed unconditional covenants in which God made promises to him that required nothing in return; there were no conditions were attached. The redemption that mostly played out in the New Testament in a part of the New Covenant found in Jeremiah 31:33, “‘or this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” This covenant is also known as the permanent covenant, because God promised to write it on our hearts, and because God laid out His plans for the coming of Christ. The coming of Jesus was prophesied early in the Bible, and according to Williams Rainey Harper in his journal, Micah 5 told of the coming of Christ. The journal states, “A cornerstone shall be established in Zion; and out of Bethlehem from the line of David shall come a righteous ruler, who shall lead Judah against the Assyrians.” These verses in Micah also solidify the prophecy made by Nathan in 2 Samuel 7. Jesus is the Son of God, and He is from the lineage of David, He was born to atone for the sins of mankind. When Jesus first came to earth, and was declared to be the Son of God people did not believe Him. The Resurrection of Jesus and the Hope of Immortality states, “…significance for believers or for all men is considered to depend logically upon the similarity of Jesus to other men and is weakened in the degree in which he is considered unique as the Son of God, the second person in the Trinity.” While it is sometimes hard to understand, God fulfilled the New Covenant. Jesus died on a cross, so we are forgiven our sins. His blood was the price of our sins. The most well known Bible verse John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” His death promised us an eternal
The Old Testament law is seen as irrelevant by most modern Christians today. Christians are now under the blood of Jesus Christ which is said to abrogate the Law. Galatians 6:2 says, “Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.” The law of Christ is to love God and your neighbor as yourself. This does not mean, however, that the Old Testament Law does not apply to Christians today. Author J. It is important to know the history of one’s past. Just where did we come from and why. By comparing and contrasting the Abrahamic and Mosaic Covenants, we can see a part of our history. These two covenants mark a grand time in the history of Christians. Both covenants can teach us a lesson in becoming a better Christian and to knowing God better if we pay attention to what God wants us to learn. The Abrahamic Covenant lays the foundation for how the Christian nation was formed. The Mosaic Covenant follows in later years as a reminder of what was promised in the Abrahamic Covenant to the Christian nation. Along with that no verse or phrase can or should be allowed to have a meaning when isolated that it would not have if it was kept in its original context.
The Old Testament is a library of 39 books inspired by God. The Old testament can be divided into 5 divisions: The Law, History,Wisdom and Poetry, Major prophets, and Minor prophets. In reading and studying the Old testament one can reason that the world is extremely complex and it did not come into play just by chance. The big bang theory may fill the void for many, but something about it just didn't add up for me, and if this was what really happened, then who started the big bang. In the book of Zachariah, the Lord says: "They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son". (Zechariah 12:10)". In this verse we clearly see that the Lord has predicted his own death on the cross and getting strike by a spear, which happened to Jesus Christ (John 19:34-37). In the New Covenant we see so many verses that talks about Jesus being God. In John we read: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being ...
