In high school, students are responsible to get high grades in order to enter university and then choose their major. In school, students cannot pick the courses they want to study because it is mandatory. Class timing in high school is fixed and is schedules are not flexible. Most high school students are dependent on their teachers as well as their parents to remind them of their responsibilities. In university, on the other hand, students grow as individuals and they become independent. Their responsibility towards education becomes more valued to themselves because they are studying their desired major. Students must pick the courses that they are willing to study for every semester based on a guide. Not only that, but also they can choose the timings of the classes that suit them. University students are more aware of their own duties and responsibilities toward their studies. Therefore, they do not need parents reminding them of their own
In today 's society, there are multitudes of pressure high school students face. One of the biggest pressures put on high school students is the decision of going to college. From the moment students enter into a secondary education, they are constantly asked questions about their future plans. Teachers and parents expect students to perform their best, while giving them no chance but to look towards college. In some cases, however, college might not be the answer. Other options exist as alternate avenues after high school, however, these are not as often expressed as the idea of a four year university. Although a college education and degree is most often more impactful than a high school diploma, there is too much pressure
In Society today it seems that the need for a college education is at a higher demand. Years ago a majority of the population was considered lucky to receive a high school degree. With the way jobs are today it can seem almost impossible to get a job without some type of training or college education. Today more than 20 million people are enrolled in college. This paper is going to explain how a college education is greater than a high school education or a general education development (G.E.D.) in many ways. A college degree is far more superior to a high school education; a college degree will earn more money, ensure job security, and broaden one’s knowledge.
Parents play a huge part in the decision making process in their children’s education. The parents almost always want what they think is best for their children and sometimes the parents do not know where to draw the line between assisting their child and controlling their children’s lives. When discussing course choices in hi...
There are many different year-round school schedules. The most popular one is the forty-five fifteen schedule. On that schedule, the students go to school for forty-five days then have fifteen days off. That translates to five weeks of school then three weeks off. There are two other main schedules. One of them being the ninety and thirty, twelve weeks and four weeks. Also, there is the sixty and twenty, eight weeks and almost three weeks. All of these schedules have the same little breaks, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break worked into them. I would say that any of those are better than thirty-six weeks of school then fifteen weeks, one hundred eighty days the ninety days.
Community colleges and universities all belong to higher education, but actually they do not have the same requirements for their students. Peter Sacks is a college teacher. With Sacks’ teaching experiences, he believes that “nobody in the system had much of a stake in shoring up educational standards” which shows his dissatisfied about the current education system. Sacks thinks higher education should only be provided to students who can do excellent job on studying. However, only a few universities hold their applicants to this high requirement. Indeed, the phenomenon that Sacks finds is correct, many community colleges and universities have low requirements for students, but Sacks does not see the good part of this low requirements. If higher education includes different requirements, more people will be able to accept better education than high school, and this will be helpful for themselves and society.
Despite many students are clear about their future paths, there are also many students attend college without reason and treat it only as a goal or task. Many people are proud of being high-educated people. Therefore many students think it is not bad to attend college. In Hong Kong, we need to choose our majors when we apply to colleges. And it is not easy to change our majors after getting into the colleges. So we need to decide what we learn in University in such a hurry. These students do not have enough time to think about their majors and future career and they cannot change their majors if someday they know what they want to learn. Although education is important that almost all the countries encourage people to study, it does not mean everyone should go to colleges. Education is necessary but college is not necessary for everyone. For those students who are unnecessary to attend college, they cannot learn much in college. They may choose a major they do not like at all and sleepwalk through their college life. It is useless for their future career and wasting their time. If they use these four years to do other things instead such as working or anything they like to do, they may learn more from them. So everyone should be aware of college is not for everyone. In life, there are high schoolers that want to do something with their life. That moment high schoolers hit a junior almost senior year, they have to think about what they want to do with their lives. If they either want to go to college, just work, have a career, or more. “According to a 2011 survey, about 60 percent of them will go to their first-choice schools. For many of them, going away to college will be like crossing the Rubicon. They will leave their families -- their homes -- and probably not return for many years, if at all.” If students stay home or close to home for college, the chances are they can get distracted and probably fail or get kicked out. But if the students want to go away for college most likely they will do better
While some students struggle academically, helicopter parents have greatly helped engage the student in learning by making them do homework at a certain time, develop their study habits, and sit down and talk with them to examine their emotional well-being. Activities like this are what helps students have a successful college life where those habits will benefit their grades overall. To put bluntly, success is not achieved without valuable habits and sacrifices made, which these parents carve into their children in hopes of granting them a better future. Parents have an enormous impact on a person’s readiness to go into a certain field or a new campus experience. Old habits are hard to break, but if adults prepare adolescents, then they will be adapted to how life
Students coming out of high school have a lot to worry about such as what they’re going to do, where they're going to go, and who they want to be. High school graduates are given more job opportunities when they continue to receive higher education. However, it can be difficult for students, depending on what type of higher education they choose. Students often wish to enroll between community college and university. Though they both offer a range of careers, one is a smoother transition from high school than the other. High school senior should consider enrolling in a community college rather than a university, for a suitable shift out of secondary school to help reduce stress.

The level of education a student engages in directly affects various factors in the student’s life: restriction, responsibility, and social. We find ourselves having too much freedom or yearning for more, but we still seem to enjoy every minute of it. Upon attending college for about two months, I enjoy being a college student more than being a high school student. As a college student there are little to no restrictions and more freedom. However, there is much more attention needed in college, so the free time the students have is when they decide what they will do with it.

College is a place where most student go after they finish their High School. The mainly purpose for entering a college is to learn deeper material about the subject they like and interested in. We have to pick a minimum credit or minimum courses hour for 8 semesters so we can graduate. However, the education system for some countries still implement the compulsory subject for students. The compulsory subject is prepared to make the student keep in track with their major courses and learn everything that related to their subject. Unfortunately, some students don’t like all of the subject in the compulsory section and lose their intention to learn more seriously. I support the view that college students should have freedom to choose their own courses. This Essay will mainly discuss about the pro and con effect giving freedom to student to choose their own courses.
