Nicole Roman Professor Smith English 100 19 September 2013 Title For many students, going to college can be scary experience; and the adjustment from high school to college can be even more overwhelming. The realization of being adult and taking responsibility of my education and future had me running for the hills. After high school the thought of going to school made me nauseas. But now my college experience made me realize that getting my education was important it was something no one could take away from that I knew I worked hard for and help build the person I am today. But from the first day, I accepted that community college meant something so much more. It helped the transition of going from high school slacker to a responsible student. College helped introduce me to a larger world full of different people, different environment and different experiences. You can make your own schedule; you don’t have to live in a dorm, amazing low cost, and have more than enough recourse to get you threw school. Library, computers, tutors, skill center, math lab are all within reach. During my first semester, I did feel somewhat overworked by the amount of classes I was taking. But I began to become relaxed when I bonded with other students who could understand me and relate to my college experience. They might have been from a different high school, city or state, but they have the same issues and uneasiness as I did. Whether it was spending sleepless nights to study for a final, having a job and going to school at the same time, or having enough money to pay the rent or bills, helped my portrait of community college as a place where a student can relax and take a deep breath and enter easily into the intimidating world of college.
