The importance of counseling comes from the time and effort that is put into it by the counselor giving attention to the client, and the client pouring out the problems that is occurring in their life. In the treatment process, the aspect of counseling gives inspiration, vision and positively to the client. Counseling is the verbal way to describe therapy. Therapy is the cooperative venture for challenges the clients in translation for the insights in action to the real world. Therapy is used for the reviving of a person’s life, and the verbal form of counseling gives a client a sense of purpose to continue on in life and to establish an sense of being in a better place in the future.
Gestalt therapy helps clients focus on the here-and-now experience and helps them recognize their awareness by using different techniques during therapy. The reason why I decided to focus on this theoretical orientation was because in contrast to other therapies, the client is deeply involved in the therapy; coming up with their conclusions and discovering their self-awareness in the process, which helps them recognize their self, instead of continuing to focus on their ideal self. With the client being aware of their emotion, thoughts, and their environment, they will be able have insight on what they can do to resolve their current problems and have a holistic view of life. The therapist’s goal is to facilitate the therapy, focusing on the clients verbal and nonverbal behaviors, assisting them to be more self-reliant, and helping them focus on the present. During therapy, there is a continuous dialogue between the client and the therapist, in which the therapist shows warmth and acceptance (Jones-Smith, 2012).
Introduction Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) emphasizes the importance of thoughts on producing behaviors. The fundamental principle of CBT is for counselors to assist clients in changing their negative thought patterns and recreate these into positive self-enhancing thoughts. The therapeutic relationship is grounded on collaboration between the counselor and the client. The counselor plays an active role but relies on the client to make changes. Together, the counselor and client will develop realistic goals that are achievable within an appropriate amount of time (Corey, 2017).

The counselor’s objective is to identify the problem of the client and plan out the method of helping the client overcome the problem. The most rewarding part of being a counselor is the ability to make a difference in people’s lives. In private practice, there is a constant push to become more skilled at helping so that clients will refer others to you for help. It is also important to follow up with the client about their well-being even after treatment has ended to ensure that they are still living a healthy and stress-free life. The client must make time for all scheduled sessions with the counselor for best results of treatment.
It helps with dealing with disappointment, grief, family issues, and job or career dissatisfaction. It also helps to modify ways of thinking and acting that are preventing the patient from working productively and enjoying personal relationships. Talking with a psychotherapist is different from talking with a friend in three respects that increase its likelihood of being helpful. Friends may be able and willing to listen and give advice, but qualified and duly licensed psychotherapists are trained professionals with specialized education and experience in understanding psychological problems. Furthermore, my goal is to let client fix their problems on their own through insight and guidance from the therapist. I envision a successful therapeutic process being when a client follows their goals and achieves positive outcomes in their lives. I seek to gain a therapeutic process with my clients by building rapport, trust, and helping them gain insight. When my clients are stuck and need motivation, I plan to remind them about their goals and the positive things that will come with change. Psyco- education should be one of the primary resources used by therapists to treat their clients. It can change the life of the patient in endless ways. Being educated about their mental illness and how to control it, could give them a better quality life. They would have the knowledge of why they are feeling the way they are, thus, a better self-control of emotions could be reached.
