Business Plan: Surf and Skate Shop
I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
If I were to start my own business, my dream would be to build a surf and skate shop on the Southern California coast. My business would be located on beachfront property in the surrounding area. This business plan will cover two main subjects, 1: an Analysis of the Business Situation, and 2: the Planned Operation of the proposed business. The first topic will cover the subtopics Trading Area Analysis and Competition in the area for my business. The second main topic will cover the proposed organization of the business, the proposed business, and proposed strategies for that business. The analysis of the business situation will cover geographic and demographic information for Huntington and the surrounding area. It will also contain an analysis of businesses in the area which are of similar type, customer buying behavior relating to my proposed business, and the potential location of my business. The Proposed Operation section will address the topics of ownership, start-up procedure, personnel needs, special functions, and an organizational chart. Details of products which will be sold will also be included, as will my business' pricing policy. I would hope that through my thorough planning and explanation that my business idea will be a grand success on the beautiful beaches of California.

...r board repair, I will need to hire someone skilled in repairing surfboards and skateboards. The boards that I will sell in my store will be of very good quality, assuring customer satisfaction.
c. PROPOSED STRATEGIES
Tyler's Surf N' Turf will use U.S. dollars as its only form of currency, and my business will offer the use of credit cards, but not personal checks. Mark-up will be determined by cost, how the product has sold, and competition. Markdown will be determined by possibility of old product replacement, competition, and promotions. Tyler's Surf N' Turf will meet the competitions offers and prices, but only if proof is provided (ex. Ads, coupons). Taxes and tariffs can affect price of products, as I am in business to make a profit. If transportation prices were to rise, the price of my product would be at risk of an increase unless sales still remained high.
Peter produces all his instruments by hand and doesn’t use machinery to mss produce his products. This makes Sawchyn guitars a very highly sought after business for customers who want a very high quality, customized musical instrument. Although there is a fair but of competition in the music business industry, Peter gains a competitive edge over other producers by creating a unique sound in his instruments. Canada has many known music stores which include L.A Music, and Long and McQuade. Over his years of hand making guitars, Peter has also gained loyal customers. Another strength includes having both national and international customers. With these strengths comes some disadvantages for Sawchyn Guitars. Since Peter makes all his guitars handmade, he is unable to have machinery to create his guitars since each guitar wouldn’t be unique which his customers are fond of. His organization also has a very small number of staff. This is one of the main issues facing Peter and his wife, Kendra. As they are getting older, they both don’t want to work full time, but as Peter is being faced with high demands for his products, he has no other choice but to work full time, seven days a week in order to fill orders. Although he has some help part time, he needs someone who knows how to hand make guitars and mandolins to produce unique sounds. And lastly, Peter doesn’t have enough space to store his guitars. Although they have a new shop, they are still unable to display many
