Developing a Successful Slamball Facility
I want to bring a multi-purpose Slamball facility to Atlanta’s everyday athletes. I would like to attract college students, weekend warriors, and everyday athletes. Once I have attracted these people to my facility I will begin leagues and televised games.
Slamball is a high flying and high intensity game, which comprises elements of basketball and football. The athletic concepts are the same but applied to Slamball in a different manner. There are four players for each team on the court at all times, four separate trampolines on each side of the court, a fenced in court, and plenty of head gear and padding to go around. Slamball is meant to catch the viewer’s eye and give them an unmatched adrenaline rush.
Slamball was invented in Los Angeles, California by a man named Mason Gordon in 2002. It is presently being televised by Spike TV, and is produced by Tollins and Robbins of Hollywood, California. Slamball has been a raging success amongst teenagers and the fine athletes around the United States.
The facility will include two Slamball courts, one regular basketball court, a concession stand, a trophy room, two weight rooms, one training room, two locker rooms, a walking track, moveable stands for viewing, and offices for the employees.
The city of Atlanta is were I plan to spring Slamball. To be more exact I plan to have it inside the perimeter loop. In order for the multi-purpose facility to work it must be centralized within the city. Once the facility is centralized I should be able to attract the morning workers, teenagers, and the fine athletes of Atlanta.

The multi-purpose arena that I have chosen to evaluate is Boston University’s Agganis Arena. This arena is considered to be the next generation of Boston sports and entertainment by incorporating the latest multimedia technologies and providing the finest possible sight lines and views of the action. The arena is located within Boston University's new $225 million John Hancock Student Village, a 10-acre hub of activity designed to be the thriving center of student life and athletics, Agganis Arena is a state-of-the-art, multipurpose sports and entertainment center scheduled to open in January 2005. A 290,000-square-foot premier venue with 6,300 seats for hockey and ice shows, the Arena is expandable to over 7,200 seats for concerts, sporting events, and family shows.

Abstract: The Stadium construction boom continues, and taxpayers are being forced to pay for new high tech stadiums they don’t want. These new stadiums create only part-time jobs. Stadiums bring money in exclusively for professional leagues and not the communities. The teams are turning public money into private profit. Professional leagues are becoming extremely wealthy at the taxpayers expense. The publicly-funded stadium obsession must be put to a stop before athletes and coaches become even greedier. New stadiums being built hurt public schools, and send a message to children that leisure activities are more important than basic education. Public money needs to be used to for more important services that would benefit the local economy. Stadiums do not help the economy or save struggling towns. There are no net benefits from single purpose stadiums, and therefore the stadium obsessions must be put to a stop.
In Major League Baseball, stadiums can affect the game dramatically by the size and by the way the dirt is laid out and how the weather is as well. The baseball teams and players can be affected by this in their major life physically and mentally. Major League Baseball is a prominent organization in our daily life. The game is very important for most people. The game is a lifestyle to people as well. Baseball has changed over the years. For instance, Pete Palmer states, “The way baseball is playing right now is completely different from the past” (Palmer, summary, 2014). A very helping part of baseball are baseball stadiums. For example, ballparks of america says, “... ballparks are amazing, they help us play” (ballparks of america, summary,
The game of basketball is a highly recognized and widely known sport. Basketball was first heard of in the winter of 1891 when a man by the name of James Naismith was told to instruct a physical education class at the Young Men’s Christian Association in Springfield, Massachusetts. Naismith was instructed to put together a game for young men to enjoy while they were at the YMCA. While trying to come up with a brilliant and fun game for these young men, Naismith reminisced back on his childhood in Canada. He remembered a game his friends and him had played all the time: “Duck on a Rock”, which involved trying to knock a large rock off a boulder by throwing smaller rocks at it. Naismith also remembered watching a game of rugby going on in the gymnasium. The game of Rugby involved tossing a ball into a box. After a very short time of trying to make up a game for these young men, Naismith came up with a brilliant idea. Little did he know the game that he came up with just so happened to be one of he most renowned sports in American history. Naismith’s idea pertained to nailing up raised boxes so that players could attempt to throw a ball in the basket. When there were no boxes too be found, he used peach baskets. Supposedly, Naismith came up with all the rules for this game in no more than “about an hour”, according to Alexander Wolff. Shortly after Naismith had invented the game of basketball, graduates of the YMCA traveled internationally which is the main reason as to why this sport is so widely known. The impact basketball has made on the lives of many Americans is incredible in the sense that it has given people the ability to ...
If I were to start my own business, my dream would be to build a surf and skate shop on the Southern California coast. My business would be located on beachfront property in the surrounding area. This business plan will cover two main subjects, 1: an Analysis of the Business Situation, and 2: the Planned Operation of the proposed business. The first topic will cover the subtopics Trading Area Analysis and Competition in the area for my business. The second main topic will cover the proposed organization of the business, the proposed business, and proposed strategies for that business. The analysis of the business situation will cover geographic and demographic information for Huntington and the surrounding area. It will also contain an analysis of businesses in the area which are of similar type, customer buying behavior relating to my proposed business, and the potential location of my business. The Proposed Operation section will address the topics of ownership, start-up procedure, personnel needs, special functions, and an organizational chart. Details of products which will be sold will also be included, as will my business' pricing policy. I would hope that through my thorough planning and explanation that my business idea will be a grand success on the beautiful beaches of California.
Basketball is a sport that has changed in various ways since its invention in 1891. It has evolved and expanded across the United States and across the world. Although it has had its ups and downs basketball is still a sport that is enjoyed by over 250 million people in this world. Today it is one of the biggest sports known and it continues to grow every year with new players bringing new styles and competition. The changes throughout the history of basketball can be shown through its origin, how it developed into a competitive sport, and its evolution into present day leagues.
Develops long term plans to determine need for and feasibility of constructing or upgrading athletic facilities.
December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts a man by the name of Dr. James Naismith invented a world famous game called basketball. The game was invented to condition the young athletes for the winter. The game consisted of peach baskets and a soccer style ball. Dr. Naismith published 13 rules for the game. Naismith had a class of 18 and divided them to 2 teams of 9. The objective of the game was to throw the ball into the fruit baskets that were nailed on the gym balcony. The game was stopped until the janitor got the ladder and got the ball out of the baskets. Later on, the bottom of the baskets was removed.

NIOSH further defines workplace violence as “physically and/or psychologically damaging actions that occur in the workplace or while on duty” (“Incivility, Bullying, and Workplace Violence”). This means that workplace violence not only includes actual physical harm to the nursing staff, but may also include things such as bullying, humiliation, and/or incivility. Nurses are often targeted by patients, as they are the healthcare professionals who interact most frequently with patients. In a video presented by the American Nursing Association, they describe recommendations set forth in their position statement that include, “Setting a ‘zero tolerance’ policy, encouraging employees to report violent incidents, and developing a comprehensive violence prevention program” (The Hard Truth: Bullying and Workplace Violence in Health Care, 2015). It is easy to see that the nursing world has been greatly impacted by workplace violence and that the nurses in America are expected to take a proactive stance on the issue. However, in 2013, nursing, psychiatric, and home health aides still missed over 7,000 days of work as a result of violent injuries, with only a fraction of these injuries being unintentional (“Workplace Violence in
Basketball is a game that is played all across the world, from the United States to china. It’s played from the city parks of New York to the dusty plains of Africa, and the expensive designed courts of the NBA. The game is played wherever someone can get a ball, and a goal. Unlike other sports that require multiple people and a lot of equipment, basketball only requires the willingness to play.
Police discretion by definition is the power to make decisions of policy and practice. Police have the choice to enforce certain laws and how they will be enforced. “Some law is always or almost always enforced, some is never or almost never enforced, and some is sometimes enforced and sometimes not” (Davis, p.1). Similarly with discretion is that the law may not cover every situation a police officer encounters, so they must use their discretion wisely. Until 1956, people thought of police discretion as “taboo”. According to http://faculty.ncwc.edu/toconnor/ 205/205lect09.htm, “The attitude of police administrators was that any deviation from accepted procedures was extralegal and probably a source of corruption. When it was finally exposed, people like the American Friends Service Committee (1971) called for its abolishment, and police administrators sought a clampdown on discretion (administrative rulemaking).” The use of discretion is not necessarily an unpleasant thing as long as it is used properly and it is not being abused. “Adequate mechanisms for control of the exercise of that discretion are also a requisite for more rational decision making. If discretion implies a lack of control – that is, the freedom to choose from among available alternatives completely unfettered by constraints of law or policy – then the idea of controlled discretion may seem to be a self-contradiction” (Gottfredson p.276). Discretion can be used in many different situations. I will be discussing discretion used in dealing with the mentally ill, drunk driving, disorderly conduct, the use of force, and domestic violence. If a police officer uses his/her discretionary power correctly, not only will it help the police officer in their situation, it will help the general community as well.
The first basketball type game may have been played by the early Olmec people of ancient Mexico as early as 500 years ago. The Aztec, and Mayan cultures also had a game similar to basketball, only instead of a rubber ball, they used the decapitated skulls of their conquered foes. The game of basketball as we currently know it, was designed and founded by Dr. James Naismith. Naismith was born on November 6, 1861, in Almonte, Ontario. Born and educated in Canada, Naismith came south to pursue his interests of physical education and Christian ministry. Shortly thereafter, he became a teacher at the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dr. Naismith was given two weeks to discover a game that would
