Bullying is Detrimental Approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying. Many school age students know somebody that might have been harmed or been bullied before. There are many reasons why bullying is bad in schools and should be stopped. Bullying is important to recognize because some teens and kids can get hurt from it. Bullying is detrimental because bullying is an aggressive behavior that targets somebody for a longer period of time, there are many ways for students to be bullied and many ways to take action, the impact of being bullied can harm students. There are many different types of bullying that can be an experience to kids and teens at school. There are also five practical ways to stop these types of bullying. Fear is a major factor that thrives in the mind of the victim. The fear of humiliation and discrimination consumes the victim creating extreme levels of stress, which can have fatal outcomes. Well Into Adulthood, Study Finds "More studies are beginning to confirm the sometimes serious psychological effects of bullying, particularly for the bullied, like increased risk for depression and anxiety" (Walton). With that being said, Bullying can cause victims to have a lower self esteem and think lowly of themselves. Boys tend to be more physically bullied as girls are more prone to being bullied verbally. According to the National Conference of State Legislature, boys who are often bullied can be five times as likely to be more or severely depressed and four times more likely to be suicidal.
