Brazosport College Personal Statement

The Brazosport College Career Fair has definitely inspired me to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. Before I attended this Career Fair I already had my mindset on pursuing an engineering degree, but this learning experience has closed the deal. Additionally, walking into the gymnasium that was filled with career booth’s sparked my curiosity. The first booth I walked to was, Brazosports Robotics booth. The first thing I saw being presented by the volunteers that we’re working the booth was a fascinating contraption the students of Brazosport created which was exceptionally put together, and well designed. The robotic machine left me in such fascination and awe. This experience with the robotics booth contributed majorly to the reasoning of my likeness towards the mechanical field since robtics and mechanical engineering are very similar.

After I introduced myself to the volunteer and told him my future goals in becoming a mechanical engineer, he showed me some pictures of equipment and machines and tools that he sees on a daily basis. These pictures consisted of strain gages, acceleration and torque measuring devices, and different types of engines. A lot of the tools and engines he was showing me we’re very similar to the things my brother who is a mechanical engineer, showed me at his workplace. All of these different devices, tools, and machines seem interesting to me. Seeing these pictures made me want to take every machine apart that he showed me and see how all the pieces work, and try to put the machine back together. This booth which is based on the career I want to pursue made the Career Fair more interesting for
