I am Xzavia Hall, I live Prospect Park NJ, but I currently live on campus at Ramapo College. I was born in a city in New Jersey named Paterson, where I spent most of my child hood. I moved out of Paterson when I entered the sixth grade. I turned out to be one of the better inner city kids who was lead on the right path. I paid attention in class and tried my best to stay out of trouble although troubles always seem to find a way to me. Now I am a sophomore and Political Science major at Ramapo College. I aspire to be a successful politician one day and I will be attending law school after I graduate from Ramapo. Since I was a child I had a deep love for politics, if it was political I had to read it or watch it, especially Presidential debates.
I continue to build my visual art skills and excel in my academics. Activism has been my mission since middle school. I have stood for things such a black pride and taken a stand against things such as poverty, bullying, and police brutality. Though the walks, the marches, plays, and workshops that I have done influenced my community but I want to invoke change. Through First Wave, I want to find more creative ways to grab the attention of the vast majority and bring awareness to a social issue. As future leaders of tomorrow, we are responsible in finding a resolution to the reoccurring problems that society has.
An HBCU is a college/university that embeds the nature of power and black excellence; a place with surroundings that doesn’t force you, but makes you want to push yourself to become a better person inside and out, and throughout the community. Transferring would allow myself to be put in an atmosphere of continuous motivation and growth that I would feed off of my superiors and the people around me.
The 4+4 program at Hofstra caught my interest after I researched its medical school, the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Northwell comprises some of the most renowned hospitals in the New York area, from the Long Island Jewish Medical Center to Lenox Hill Hospital. Aside from being partnered with such a prestigious institution, the Zucker School of Medicine’s progressive, “case based” curriculum is what intrigued me the most. Few medical schools offer to train its students for the 21st century, and this hands on approach seems like the best method to expose students from our generation to the ever changing field of healthcare. From working in groups to solve weekly cases to using real world patient cases to explain concepts, I feel as if the Zucker School of Medicine offers an optimal experience for its students to succeed in their fields.
An individual’s intellectual curiosity to gain knowledge of the unanswered questions becomes a catalyst for the advancement of a society. Mercer University’s undergraduate student research program challenges a student to discover the unknown and sets a foundation for growth in critical thinking. Unlike any other colleges, Mercer University provides opportunities to turn an imagination into a reality that benefits the lives of the people. Through the research program, I would like to contribute my passion in serving others in need by discovering ways to find a cure for childhood cancer and creating innovative ideas to help the lives affected by cancer.
Not only am I confident that Rutgers University will fully assist me in reaching my personal enrichment, but I have faith that it will help me to achieve my career goals as well. Throughout the years, the Scarlet Knights have surely made a name for themselves in New Jersey. I have yet to decide on a specific major, but attending Rutgers will allow me to get a taste of the many majors the University has to offer. Benefiting from Rutgers is not the question. The real question is how would one not? A degree from Rutgers has a such a strong value. Not just that, but there is a lot of involved with the school and students.
I am an athlete, and also enjoy reading and watching political sitcoms. My parents are teachers who have raised me to work hard and have shared with me a lot of their political ideas and morals. Coming into this class I like to think I have a good idea of my Political Ideology and have a decent idea of the news that was happening around me. Through this class I hope to become more informed about the “Hot Button Issues” so that I can know exactly where I fall politically and become an informed voter. I hope these things will help shape me and maybe change my mind on some issues. Through all of this I am a liberal, socially and especially economically, considering both of my parents are teachers which is an underpaid profession ;this has influenced me to side with liberals on major issues or talking points such as abortion, same sex-marriage, and higher taxes on the rich.
Diya Patel, 2015 middle level representative and eighth grader at Brooklawn Middle School has strong opinions on the United States politics. She dreams to soon become involved in politics and be a future president.
As a political science major Washington DC or something related to it usually comes out in classes. It has been a personal dream to go visit, but it has become a recent aspiration to go and work there. In any field, it can be difficult to get a job to jumpstart one’s career. The “real world” is known as after college for most people. For the post college reality, I have been trying to make it as painless as possible, but at the same time have it reach its full potential success wise.
I was born on March 29, 1790. I was born in a wealthy family with my fellow 7 siblings. We all received the highest education possible at the time. My mother died was I was only 7, resulting in me being close to my father. During my late teens and early adulthood, my father was the Governor of Virginia. At age 15, I entered the College of William and Mary and studied law like my father. I became a lawyer at age 19. When the war of 1812 formed, I was on United States of America’s side. I helped form a militia to fight Britain. In March of 1813, I married Letitia Christian. My wife did not care for my political side as she only visited Washington once and she mostly stayed in our family’s plantation. We had 8 children together (one who died as an infant).
I was born on February 6, 1911 in an apartment on the second floor of a commercial building in Tampico, Illinois. My dad nicknamed me "Dutch", due to my "fat little Dutchman"-like appearance and "Dutch boy" haircut; the nickname stuck with me throughout my youth. When I worked as a lifeguard I have saved 77 documented lives during the seven years of me working there. The day I was sworn into presidency, Iran releases the 52 remaining hostages who had been held at the U.S. embassy in Tehran for 444 days. I have acted in more than 50 movies. I made over 400 films.
The primary reason I am applying to Molloy College is my desire to earn the education and qualifications in order to provide more involved care for my patients at work. I have known for some time that I have always wanted to be a nurse. Therefore, in April 2007 I enrolled in a program to become a certified nurse’s aide and earned my New York state certification in July 2007. I began working immediately at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in November 2007; I also began working in a hospital starting April 2015. Being employed at both facilities is what led me to fall in love with a career in nursing, all while allowing me to gain a wonderful amount of experience caring for a diverse population as well as working with a diverse population of health care professionals.
I’ve only recently became interested in politics, after taking civics and economics in my sophomore year of high school in the 2010-2011 school year. Even then, I still didn’t have a footprint set in the political world, I just grasped more and more knowledge from teachers and peers. While my first political experience, didn’t actually have anything to do with actual governing peoples, Chavaun vividly remembers former president Bill Clinton’s time in office. This is when she really grasped on to politics and learned that her opinion really matters. At this time, I was too young to vote and didn’t really understand how politics worked; I still do not fully understand it. I first said my earliest political memory is when I was in civics and economics, however that’s when I first learned about it. I would now say that my first political memory was when I joined the National History Scholars Society my junior year; I kind of understood politics more and was in charge of several mock elections and also worked at the polls. While I was not old enough to actually vote, I did take part in mock elections and read about several of the candidates and had the opportunity to speak with people of different backgrounds and political
College education is an integral element that is effective to students’ social, mental and the career because it nurtures one to produce the best in life. College education is key to shaping student in tandem with the global demands that touches on career ingredients vital in securing meaningful employment. As a student pursuing college education, I stand to gain from these benefits. College education has been perceived to be expensive, but the fact that it will provide many benefits should not be ruled out. Every successful project or action undertaken has to come with a cost. a state that I acknowledge as I embark on my higher education. It is evident that of the various skills that one acquires in learning translates
Throughout life, there are different interests that you discover and become passionate about. Many commit themselves to some sort of club or activity, especially through middle school and high school. Some of these activities or clubs, you may be participate in for the rest of your life or it could be a temporary thing. It shapes you as a person you are though without even realizing it, because it plays a huge factor in the people you hang out with and the things you enjoy doing. Sometimes people join clubs or find something to do that will one way or another end up helping others; like an act of service, but other times people want to just be apart of something and have something to do in their spare time.
When I returned to civilian life I married a woman named Nicole Swift, who is my wife to this day. We then started a family, in 1973 I had my first son named John, and in 1980 I had another son named James. I then studied Law at Vanderbillt Law School. In 1976 I was elected to represent New York in the U.S. House of Representatives, I was also elected to U.S. Senate in 1984 and again in 1990. I will now state my position on 4 separate issues that are current in the United Sates today.
