After being accepted to Longwood University, my family and I sat down to discuss my goals. During our conversation, my sisters questioned my ability to achieve these goals, while my parents inquired why Longwood University should play a role in my aptitude for higher education. To systematically answer most of their questions, my father Larry, my sister Candyce and I set out to attend a campus tour. It was that tour which made me I fell in love with the campus and community. Through Longwood University, I have received a community of people that sincerely care about my education, my family, my health, and my dreams. As I contemplate empowering the youth and setting a standard for future generations, I must advance to become a Longwood University Master of Business Administration via the MBAdvantage Program with a concentration in Real Estate.
Raising my consciousness of humanity through Longwood University, I realized that I am capable of getting my masters' degree in business administration from Longwood despite the amount that it took me to complete my undergraduate studies. To bring more light to my undergraduate career, I admit that I

The determining factor for why I selected the real estate concentration is due to the electives offered per concentration. I sincerely believe that in order to be successful at something, one must have the desire to improve on their natural abilities. The College of Business and Economics studies and delivers the processes that Longwood University uses to preserve its real estate advantages. Real estate knowledge is powerful and as the world transitions from nonrenewable energy to more renewable resources, I truly believe that focusing my path and allowing myself the ability to improve on my strategy will grant me the intelligence to become a better resource to
In 1993, the Harold C. Case Scholarship for outstanding academic achievement was awarded to fourteen students in the Boston University junior class. I was one of two students in the College of Communication and one of two students in the School of Management to receive the award. I view this award as recognition of the difficult journey I undertook to become the first person in the history of Boston University to combine a broadcast journalism degree with a business degree. Although the university allowed students to pursue dual degrees, it was highly discouraged for someone to attempt to dual major in two professional schools. Some people believed that I was stubborn when I would not accept this. By carefully planning my courses from the start to satisfy the requirements of both degrees and by enlisting the support of key advisors, I succeeded in four years.
Over the past few years, people have begun to see going to college as a way to achieve the American Dream through career-readiness. People used to go to college, hoping to get a better well-rounded education. For most the well-rounded education, it usually came with the courses required for a liberal arts education. The courses would provide a level of analytical and in-depth understanding that would prepare the students for both life and whichever career path chosen. No matter the amount of money paid, parents would be willing to gi...
An interest in business and agricultural studies has always taken some form throughout my life, whether it was running a farm in seventh grade, building a mentoring program during freshmen year or acting as the treasurer for National Honors Society. At first I was learning to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables and then determining how to sell them in order to achieve a net profit. Later I studied how to successfully construct a budget for a new mentoring class at our school and this year I have studied the complex theories of economics and management taking place on a worldwide scale. These experiences have built my passion for Applied Economics and Management at Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Sciences. This specific college has the classes and professors that demonstrate the same interests I am looking for in college. Although I have already gained a great amount of business knowledge, my studies have also taught me about the endless approaches and lenses in which you can view a business problem. Whether it be to delve into the mind of the consumer and understand what mak...
In “Choosing Success in College and Life”, Carol Kanar exposes students to the foundational skills that they will need to develop in order to be successful in the college setting. Effective interpersonal skills and understanding that people are the biggest resource can be two of the biggest factors in how a student assimilates to campus life. Students can be intimidated by all of the offices and professional titles that surround them when entering this new surrounding. It is important that students understand that their desire to succeed is met by college professionals’ mutual desire to see the same. The blueprint for this success should first begin with the students’ inner belief in themselves. Second, the student should familiarize themselves with all that the college has to offer by way of various supportive offices, support groups, and clubs. Finally, the students should begin to set scholastic, life, and financial goals for themselves.
Many factors influenced the fact that I am now attending Louisiana Tech University. Some Micro-sociological forces were present in my decision to come here. My parents who both attended college, were a critical force in my attendance at Louisiana Tech University this fall. My dad obtained an Associate’s degree in business and my mom has a certification in medical coding and 60 hours in college credit. We are a middle-class family so my parents had the ability to help me pay half of the cost of college expenditures that were left. As an alumnus himself, my father’s input helped me in making my decision to attend Louisiana tech by sharing his experience of college life with me. My older sister Marissa decided to attend Tech when she graduated
First, I would like to thank the Louie F. Cox Memorial AK Steel Foundation and the Middletown Community Foundation for their continued support as I pursue my education. My first year at Case Western Reserve University has been incredible and I found many opportunities to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. During my first few weeks on campus, I joined the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and also earned a seat on the executive board as membership chair. NSBE has allowed me to enhance my networking skills, advocate for diversity, and engage with the campus community. I also mentored high school students through the NSBE Jr. program and volunteered at engineering-themed events throughout the greater Cleveland area. A major highlight of this year was attending the National NSBE Convention in Kansas City, MO and meeting Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. His advice on finding a career in Silicon Valley was especially helpful, as I declared my academic path: a double major in computer science and business management (with a specialization in supply chain management) and a minor in data science.
I am excited about the prospects of attending George Mason University and look forward to intellectually stimulating discussions and lectures related to today’s top real estate issues. I chose the MS in Real Estate Development program as it provides for a relevant learning experience that emphasizes the utilization of case studies from real projects developed by companies considered to be leaders in the industry. Furthermore, the curriculum-flexibility will allow me to pursue an emphasis that best compliments my personal qualities, academic background and professional work experience.
The world of business has always enamored me: The allure of working and reaping the rewards has stirred in me a love for business. This has influenced me to apply to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where I believe I can be a great asset to the college while in turn it prepares me to face the challenges and opportunities that both the domestic and international economies present.
There is a multitude of reasons NYU has sparked an interest as one of my top college options. It is located in New York City, the greatest city in the world. Also this large student population increases competition, and I enjoy working towards being the best when there is a great number of competitors. Overall I believe NYU would supply my needs as an academic over achiever.
As a young undergraduate, I attempted to prove myself as a hardworking student by attending my courses focused and well prepared, and conducting my assignments as required. Through my undergraduate studies, I was fortunate to participate in several student and voluntary activities. Furthermore, determinant to acquire relevant practical experience, I trained and worked at several establishments applying my theoretical ed...
