Biography Paper Lesson

The major modification I made during this unit was the biography paper lesson plan. Originally I had planned to incorporate the biography paper into the poster presentation lesson because the biography is a part of the poster. I had graphic organizers to guide students with research and my thought was this would be enough for them to write a biography. The lesson that I originally wanted the students to write the biography in was going to have a checklist that they would follow and one check was the biography paper.

I originally planned to work with them individually when they would be in class. I also planned to go through all the same lessons with these students as the rest of the class. I quickly realized this would not be possible. I noticed right away with lesson one the students would not get to participate in the whole group activity. The three students were in and out at different times as well, so I could not have them work as a group. I decided to look over my unit and take the three learning outcomes and choose the major projects that align with the outcomes for the students to complete. This way the students would progress towards meeting the learning outcomes.
The first learning outcome is the students will examine factors that led to continuity and change on human development. I took this outcome and chose the first lesson to re teach with the three students who missed this lesson because this introduces the unit and touches base with the most important aspect of this unit: why we celebrate black history month. I used the graphic organizer and provided them with the notes to complete the graphic
