It's been shown and proven that the first moments of meeting someone we observe and form an opinion. The problem with the idea though is stereotypes. Societies biggest downfall is that we define people by their appearance or by what they do. This may be the big idea on why our appearance impacts us and why we care so much. So we can fit as a stereotype? So we can fit in a group with our friends? If our friends look and dress a certain way with a certain brand it becomes a trend because we want to fit in with them. To be looked at as one of them, so that it’ll make us feel like we are the same and equal. Now think, there's a lot of talk about equality; equality for different races, sexuality, genders and even numerous animal rights campaigns. The cheerleaders, football, and basketball players may be the top of the class and have many other interests? What if the gay guy was a team captain and the best player for over 10 teams? And the lesbian, couldn’t she love skirts and her dream is to be a fashion model? Being skinny means nothing because it's just a word, in 2008 on The Next Top Model a plus-sized model won. So, trying to change and make yourself look different wouldn’t change or benefit you, you’ll just think of yourself being different but it wouldn’t be for yourself. As for the skinny kid that people think doesn’t eat, what if thats just how they look? Mentally disabled kids are not dumb at all, they are just different and they are probably smarter than others. What if the kid that was dirty and had messed up clothes wore only what he had because he didn’t have money to buy and stay up with the trends for the appearance of others?
