Bauer Person Job Fit

Person-organization and person-job fit both complement one another in terms of employment. They are positively related to job satisfaction and commitment employees (Bauer 2016). Person-environment fit is the fit between what we bring to our work environment and environmental demands. They are positively related and both influence the work behaviors and attitudes employees (Bauer 2016). All of these terms are popular when it comes to companies hiring new employees.
Person-organization fit refers to ones characteristics and the degree of how well they will fit in with the company. This goes all the way back to the beginning of your first kindergarten class, some students are just better doing certain things than others (Bauer 2016). That’s why in school, they made you try a variety of different things from academics, art class, music class, sports, and etc. so you could figure out what you were talented at. Students possess their own skills in different areas. For example, if you were the best known athlete in your high school, would you apply to schools that were D1 knowing that there was a possibility you could go further and get drafted, or would you just apply to a regular college to major in something you like and not play any sports. The obvious choice is to go to the best school that you got into for that sport. This is the reason why many athletes aren’t in majors that are difficult or require a lot of time. They know that they are skilled in athletics and would rather spend their time getting better in the sport to possibly get drafted rather than spending time for a major they don’t even know much about or they like. All my life, I have always had a skill in math, and have been money smart. Finding a job at the bank enhanced my knowledge in the banking world and only increased the skills I already contained. I was an extremely quick learner and my counting skills were never off because I was great with math. On the other hand, you would never see me trying to become a professional athlete. As much as I do like sports, I know that I would never be as talented as some of the people in that field no matter how much I trained for it. Something that would take them a week to learn, would probably take me a couple months to learn the same thing.
