Surrogacy A controversy about whether surrogacy is a wonderful or dreadful decision when it comes to building a family has become a debatable topic over the years. Success rates in surrogacy are going up. “With success rates as high as 60 percent and with implantation methods getting better every day…” (Gailie). Surrogacy gives a big opportunity for someone to have a child but cannot because of some issues. Having a surrogate can have a positive effect on the child`s and the child mother. The surrogate can continue to communicate with the child’s mother every day about what is going on through the pregnancy. People who cannot produce a baby have low self-esteem about themselves or may just feel like it is their fault because they cannot have a child. That is when a surrogate can step in. Surrogates can make a huge impact in someone’s life. From doing some research, surrogacy can form a friendship/bond between the surrogate and the intended parents. By having a bond, the intended parents do not have to worry about the surrogate not telling the mother about situations that are going on during the pregnancy. A woman or same-sex couples cannot complete their family without the help of an surrogate. For an example, a surrogate can step in and help just by getting the intended parents eggs and sperm from the father and place the embryo in the surrogate. Same-sex couples and women should not be treated badly or talked down on because they cannot produce a child. A child is a gift. The parents and the surrogate are the ones who are affected the most. Some people in the world think that if someone is not doing something the right way then they should not be doing it at all. Surrogacy is the only way some people can have a child. According to Modern Family Surrogacy Center, the first successful pregnancy done via egg was done in 1983 (Surrogacy.com).
