Are people happier just because they live in a better place such as the United States, having drinking water coming right out of the sink? The answer is no, because most people here have not yet lived in a different environment in which there isn’t any clean water. They grew up here, so they have already gotten used to their homes, which they may not be particularly happy about, but what about those people coming from the third world countries? Would they have felt the same way about the houses here? No, they would be more than thankful, for they have never been provided with conditions so good. After 10 or 20 years, they would also get used to their new homes, which would change their feelings towards it because is not as special anymore. In this situation, happiness is only a temporary state when a positive event occurs, but it will not last as long as the event will. If it was just a temporary state, and being happier does not mean anything, because who knows how they are going to feel for the next minute. On the other hand, when they are happy all the time, that make they a happy person, is theyr personality. I believe that happiness is the key to living a good and prosperous life. Through all of the sadness and hate in the world, happiness gives me hope. It gives not only me, but others hope and joy. Happiness gives us something to hold onto, therefore we cherish it as much as we can.
