I’m Jasmine Sanasinh. I enjoy spending time with my family, learning about different cultures, and being around people that have a positive attitude. When you first meet me I am very shy and do not like to talk a lot, but after awhile I am very outgoing, and cannot stop talking. Playing my clarinet is something that I really enjoy doing in my free time. I would describe myself as adventurous, exuberant, passionate, and courteous. I am adventurous because I like to do things that are foreign to me to experience a different point of view. I am full of energy and love to spread positivity, and I am really passionate about things I do. I am courteous because I like to use my manners to be polite and respectful towards others. To also help spread the word, I will help at AFS fun night, and help promote it so other students will be willing to go to experience what a different culture and creating new experiences is like. I would also be willing to create a presentation and go to the middle school and tell them that once they get to high school, they can go on a trip to experience the diverse cultures we have in our
I would describe myself as a weird individual. I am quiet but if I really know you really well I can be very goofy and exciting. When I am around a lot of people or people I do not really talk much. Most of the time I observe my surrounding, hearing conversations, seeing facial expressions of those I should not have seen. I do not like expressing how I feel and my emotions. A lot of people see me as always laughing and crazy person but sometimes that is hiding what is really going on in my brain. I am a heavy thinker. In many cases the reason I am quiet is because I am thinking. My boyfriend describes me a mean girlfriend but if was not mean I would not love him. I am laid back, and very calm. Sensitivity can also describe my personality because I can see other people cry and it tears my emotions
For my Cultural Plunge, I participated with Project Excell (Extending College Education for Lifelong Learning). This is a group that meets on campus, in the union, every Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM. Each participant has a developmental disability and they come from various places around Manhattan. Project Excell offers around 4 different classes for the participants to choose from, which range from dancing/theatre to the history of Nigeria. After completing a “session,” the participants go through a graduation ceremony and then begin a different type of class for the next few weeks. I joined this group as a student ambassador, who assists the classroom teachers while building relationships with and tending to the needs of the participants.

I would be a valuable member to NHS because I have the ability to set examples and exceed expectations in academics. I am in clubs and sports so I know how to work with others and help them if they need it and I have the leadership skills to help other because I used to go to telemetry schools to help out little kids and translate for them. I am a person who is driven to achieve, and help others. The adversity of living in a small town, the frustration of being different, of looking to rise above and realize my own autonomy has helped me grow. The next step in my growth is Harvard. I am also a person who has a strong connection to beauty and art. I have been able to surmount any and all tribulations, and use music as my outlet. For example one day my sister was upset because she got a bad grade on her test, and I cheered her up by making a bun of jokes and just being funny, and it made me feel very good to see her smile after she was upset for a while. Also whenever there is a conflict whether it's between my friends or my family I always try to stay out of it, so I can help resolve the conflict, and a lot of times I have helped solve many conflicts. I am sentimental, out-going, indecisive, understanding, curious, naive, lazy, and young. I want to be ... , well a lot of things, and growing is discovering what they are.
